But legally you must be paid for at least some of the hols. The way most term time contracts work is 39 weeks of term + bank hols + 4 weeks annual leave (or a portion thereof)=number of weeks paid for. This is usually divided by 12 so you get paid each month.

Interesting - our budget for printing is around 6k but we spend around 24k. We have 1450 students (11-18) and 150 ish staff.

No - I just hate these people who think it's ok to skip the country as soon as they make a few quid so they can avoid taxes. A dubious morality IMHO.

No I mean pay his way like the rest of us do and pay towards all the services that he has doubtless used over the years!

We had beautiful crisp frost and autumn sunshine yesterday here in the Lakes - very pretty up here at this time of year. Today - tiny amount of snow but very cold and frosty.

We give them a local account for use off the network because we had very similar issues. They all seem happy enough with that.

Yes - you should get holiday pay. I'm pretty sure it would be illegal not to give you any. My team are all term time only so get 39 weeks of term + 2 weeks bank hol + 4 weeks holiday so they get 45/52 of the advertised salary per year but for ease this is divided into 12 monthly payments. You may well have to take your annual leave in the school hols (although we aren't obliged to at our place) but the employer will still have to pay you for some of it.

Totally shattered but a great start to term. Tiredness not helped this week by journeys to and from hospital including 5am last Sunday morn to help a friend out. At least half term has finally arrived so I can catch up on some sleep!

It wasn't the spelling that was incorrect. It was the wrong by (buy) I was only joking anyway.

We used to use something similar but changed this year. It has been mentioned that Lancashire schools who don't use .sch.uk are being persuaded to move back.

I agree - that's kind of where this question has sprung from. This year our user names for Year 7 are all initials+part of admission number. We are now moving to school.org so they will be as anonymous as we can make them in that there will be no name and the school's location won't be identified.

Just out of curiosity I am interested in knowing if schools use name@geographical_location.sch.uk or something else for their email address. I'd also be interested in reasons why you do or don't use the sch.uk ones. Cheers

We have 7 in our PE dept for registration. They love them and find them easy to get on with. I installed XP and SIMS on them and they seem to work well. We went for the Atom processor ones with 1Gb of RAM. Only thing I didn't like was they are advertised as 12Gb drive - in actual fact they have 1 4Gb card and 1 8G drive.

I'd stick another vote in for Canon kit - I used Canon kit all the way through my college course many years ago including the spectacular T90 (lovely camera).
