  1. The file is called SQLSimsInfrastructureUpgrae.exe (or similar) - when you run it it unpacks a few bits and creates SIMSSQL2005.exe. It was there in our setups folder when I downloaded the Sept Update. Hope this helps
  2. I delete the user accounts in the summer hol (at the end) and archive all work to DVD stored in our safe. Think I've got 7 years worth and I can't recall being asked for anything in all that time - still it's there if they need it!
  3. Liam - why can't they use them at home? If it's just the fact you use a proxy at school and they need to be able to untick that box at home so it doesn't use a proxy there's a util on here (can't remember what it's called) that gives the user a big box that says At home or At school and clicking one or t'other checks or unchecks use proxy box.
  4. I saved up from my first Saturday job to buy this! Remember when the skill in gaming was to program it as small as possible - now of course it's just "chuck another 4Gb in it"
  5. Martin and his crew at Audioworks for me too - they've done about 100k worth of work for me and our feeder primary schools and it's always excellent service. Easy to deal with and very flexible.
  6. We had this - local support centre logged into server for an hour and reckoned everything was fine - their response "must be your clients - let us know how you go on" Just noticed the service SQL Browser wasn't running - started the service and now all is fine! Go figure! SIMS - Sometimes It Might Stop!
  7. And if you want to relive those Manic days....... http://www.darnkitty.com/manic/ just gotta find jet set willy now - although these days I suppose you've gotta be careful how you search for that!
  8. Ah yes - Doom was great! Mind you as per other poster I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D and being amazed! Played that for ages!!
  9. Well mine's done and all seemed to go well. Took a bit of time but no real issues. Breathed a big sigh of relief when it all worked! Good news is that means the rest of half term off!! Hurrah!
  10. Think Irfanview (freebie) will do that.
  11. Thanks for the reply - it's a side by side and I think I've got SQL 2005 installed now. Yes it is for SIMS. If I can get the conversion tool released (harder than it sounds) I'm due to upgrade this week. Deep joy!

    SQL 2005

OK - I've finally decided to do this. Put the SQL 2005 CD in and it fires up but I was kind of expecting to see a box along the lines of "Upgrade" or "New Installation" - it isn't there. Any ideas or step by step guide for full fat SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. I think once I've got that installed I can do the SIMS bit. Cheers folks Jarrod

  14. The code has to be changed in 3 places 1. Nova - if you're using it 2. Personnel bit of sims 3. Focus, Personnel, Manage Classroom staff Oddly a person can have a different staff code in personnel and classroom staff!
  15. This seems to imply it's pretty simple: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1416004&page=1
