  1. Just got some bullet points together have a look and let me know Teaching and Learning Time wasted at the start and end of every session logging on and off. Resources are unavailable to both teacher and student. Files not stored in one common location “ONE SERVER FOR ALL TASKS” Loss of data Printing Teachers and Staff Unable to access Sims (latency) Access to children's work Printing Work form home just for a start
  2. Hi I have a job interview in just over a week for a network managers position but have to give a 10 min presentation on "How would an inefficient network impact on the curriculum" has any one any ideas I am a sound technical guy but what they are asking is like a teachers interview I was expecting a technical test. Again can anyone start me off with some pointers?
  3. Just to let you all know I did the domian transfer and it all worked fine
  4. Yes we did but its more of a mule than the dc the 2nd dc is on a 7 year old dell server
  5. Hi I have a domain controller that’s giving up the ghost it’s locking up every few days and requires a reboot. The DC is 4 years old and is being replaced this summer, the new kit has arrived I have installed windows 2003 server on it and joined it to the domain but not run DCPROMO. What I need to know is what procedure do I need to follow to transfer the roles from the old dc to the new one and then rename the new dc to the old name.
  6. Ha We had a similar issue on thursday of last week the core switch was locked solid but pings were getting trough some times. we have fibre links back to the core from all other stacks so it was a quick fix to isolate the area. after examining the effected area we located the issue to a wall port that had nothing connected to it after further investigation we found that RATS had chewed the cables and coused themn to short. this freaked out the teacher and pest controllers were called in.
  7. Thanks for all your help I have spoke to the head and added him as a recepient for both parties emails at the end of the day its hsi decision what to do about this. It seems to be that we are thought of as the technology police and people with no feelings about matters and to be honest i dont feel comfortable reading other users mail. i would rather members of the senior managment team do that.
  8. Thanks for that i have given the head that option and now the goal posts have been moved again. he wants me to quarentine there emails and release the ok ones. think i will read the spam filter manual now.
  9. you have to remamber these are teachers
  10. We have two users (staff) on the network, who are arguing between each other this has now become a union issue. What I need to know is how I stop all the two people mailing each other but receive emails on the global list. This is a good one for the Head to ask me at the end of the week Sorry this is exchange 2003
  11. Hi Here is a word document we put together as a guide for teaching staff so we had to make it look easy Taking Your Email Out Of Cached Mode.doc
  12. you could have your outlook clients in cached mode i have noticed that as one issue that can allow it to happen.
  13. Just install the upgrade on you SIMS box and get the staff to log out and back in again. working ok
