Been very pleased with HP prodesks which I've only just switched to from custom built ones. Managed to get i5, 8gb, 128ssd, KB, Mouse, 3yr On Site, Win 10 Pro, 21.5 FHD monitor for £500 but then successfully did the HP cashback scheme (supplier didn't expect payment until cashback was paid and provided compliant units to send back to HP). Net cost was £350 per machine. However if I don't need optical drives (so anywhere except whiteboard PCs) I've been using NUC and putting them together myself. All the hardware has 3yr manufacturer warranty anyway.

Hi All, I have a Dell T320 with Perc 710 RAID controller that needs a new set of disks. Current disks are 600gb 15k SAS in Raid 5. What are my options for putting SSDs in and will it make as big a difference as it does on desktop computers? Thanks,

That whispercast system looks ideal, but as you say, it's not available here. My gut feeling is that iBooks and the VPP store would be the way forward but I can't see how to distribute books to shared devices (which don't have an apple ID attached to them).

Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone was using these and if so, what the arrangements are for buying books, is there an equivalent to the VPP store? Do you need to buy 1 book for each device? Are there any better options that we ought to be looking at? Any extra info on how content is managed would be great. I've not used them in schools at all so far. I need to figure out whether we'd just be better off using books from the apple VPP store and iBooks and abandoning the e-reader idea? Thanks,

I use enviroelectronics for weee stuff. Didn't know they took toners too. That's brilliant then. Thanks! EDIT- Just to say that enviroelectronics are easily the best WEEE company i've ever used. Zero work for us other than putting the stuff in the bin and emailing them to say it's full. They send a fully documented report with serial numbers and HDD destruction certificates.

The 2012 MBPr has 1600Mhz DDR3 Ram and PCIe storage and a 2560x1600 screen. The latest 2016 kaby-lake cpu'd Dell XPS in currys has.... 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM and PCIe storage and a 1920x1080 screen.

Hi All, Hopefully Just a quick one - I'm going through looking at different laptops on a big price list but was wondering is anyone could tell what each bit means: HP 9470M i53437U 14H WC/4/500/32SD/FP/7P68L I can guess that 9470m is the model, i53437U is CPU and 14 is the screen size, 4 is the RAM, 500 is HDD, FP is fingerprint reader. But the other highlighted bits I'm struggling with. Any ideas please? Edit- Other options on the bit that says 14H are: F, +, FH, QHD (Quad HD/4K?), FTS, FHD (Full HD?)

Hi All, I'm after a service where someone will send me a wheelie bin that can be kept outside, I ring them when it's full and they come and get them. Not fussed about getting money for the toners but certainly don't want to pay for the service. I specifically don't want one of the million people who send cardboard boxes and arrange for a courier to come as and when they feel like it. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks.

Hi All, Just wanted to add a note here to say that this thread led me in the right direction to fixing this. I also noticed that this has only happened at sites where the Chrome ADM templates have been added in but the proxy settings not defined within them. That may be a coincidence but thought it was worth sharing.

Thanks for the help. I found that the problem was an ip address conflict but windows wasn't showing it up as that. Very odd that it only affected external pings though?

Hi All, I have a problem with a few machines to varying degrees but they all have this pattern. They will consistently ping an internal server with <1ms delay but if I ping 8.8.8.8 some machines are dropping huge amounts (47% loss on the worst machine) and other are 'only' dropping a few (2-5% which is still very very high imo). I'm at a bit of a loss at the minute and could do with some suggestions! Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi All, I've done this at a few sites with success but I had 2 machines at 2 different sites come up with the 'Bad Image' error. System restore works and then when you re-run the script @DellOughta posted above, it does the exact same thing again. The obvious answer is to re-image but I'd like to know why it's happening. The way I read it was that if the touch ID system recognises any unauthorised (read: non-apple) then it locks itself down. Justification for this is apparently a designed feature to stop a modified screen or other component from accessing system data or doing a MITM on the touchID system. It won't affect iPad repairs as much, because unlike the phones where the screen and glass/digitizer are replaced as an assembly, it's quite common to replace just the glass and not the LCD on an iPad and this apparently doesn't have the error 53 'feature'.

The built in diagnostics on the MacBook are decent too and it's likely that the interference from neighbors is exaggerated by the better antennae of the MacBook vs the phones.
