Reading other places suggests I would need to convert the bmp to a jpg for the Win7 logon screen. I would like this all to be automated and dynamic or not bother at all really. What's the point of the option in bginfo to change the logon screen if it doesn't change the logon screen??

The 10 point touch model is available for a bit more, but realistically I didn't think it was worth the extra. Smart Notebook seems to work better in single touch mode than in multi touch. We are licensing Smart 14 separately and works out to £25 per board per year I think, so £250 for the 10 we've got in so far. I'd like them to wean off of smart notebook personally, as it seems to be too much of a crutch, but that's up to them.

I got a c touch screen and a smart e70 in for teachers to test and they all preferred the C touch. I was convinced that they would go for Smart because it's what they know and it it was bigger and it was cheaper. I also had a play with everything i could see at the BETT show to compare responsiveness and image quality and ended up putting in 10 C Touch 65" Leddura 4 point touch panels at £2500 each including delivery.

Hi All, I just thought I would update this thread with what I decided on. Having looked at Impero Remote Manager, AB Tutor, Intelliadmin Remote Control Enterprise, TeamViewer, Remote Utilities and Screen Connect, I ran trials of the Intelliadmin, IRM and ScreenConnect products and settled on Screen Connect. It serves the majority of what I wanted, is customisable and so far reliable. I have decided to have 2 concurrent sessions, but will normally only use one but that has cost me $600 (£400) and includes the first years major releases and 80% discount if I upgrade again in year 3, which for £80, I probably will do. Can impero edu pro be used across sites without a vpn if the impero server is on a public ip? Or can several local servers report back to a central server?

I imagine zoostorms will only have core series processors though. Are these unsupported for VMware or just not ideal?

What's the budget and do you need to get a trolley too?

If there's space then why not? As space gets tighter then by all means move it to cheaper slower storage to free up the fast stuff for regularly used data. Lunacy is a bit harsh though.

Do you have a focal length you need or are you open to anything. I may be able to help with something that would fill a smart board 72" at about 7'.

Could be dust heating up as the components get hotter? In the psu and gpu.

If this was me, and it was my workstation rather than a test/lab machine running VMs, I would get a 5th Gen Broadwell i5 NUC, 16gb 1866MHz RAM, 240gb m.2ssd and 2x 22" FHD monitors, win 7 pro lic, for £700. They are lovely and quiet and very fast and can be mounted on the back of one of the screens so you can forget about it.

I want quiet as possible as it's for home so the workstation you've spec'd looks good. What SSDs are in it? What can you drop from the price if you take off the Win 7 COA (I'll be licensing through action pack), and the KB/Mouse? Thanks,

Hi All, I'm looking to spend around £500 to get a PC to run 3-4 VMs on a Server 2012 Hyper-V. Looking for help with specs as I'm unsure where to put the money in terms or processor speed/cores, ram size/speed, hdd/ssd. I want it to play about with at home and fiddle with bits and be able to start over easily, without wrecking other stuff. The VMs would be a domain controller, a mail server, a print/fileserver, and a misc playing around, possibly web-facing server. Nothing too intensive really. Any ideas? Thanks,

As far as I can see you can get it to do unattended assistance, it just cuts out the invitation process. Can someone who has used it, confirm how it performs across firewalls etc? These look like great free tools but seem a little lacking in other features. Is it that good? Lots of people rave about it, but it seems sparse on features for the price. £439 for the basic one. I would really like to put it out through GPO but only the corporate version does that at £1700! I'm looking at ScreenConnect as mentioned by @snagrat and remote utilities. Both look decent, but need to test them. Any opinions on these programs?

It was a couple of years ago but it was the full fat one, with all the (very good) bells and whistles.

I am happy to put around £500 in to a perpetual licence of something, but as it will be coming out of my pocket I would want something very good for that. Impero is too expensive, and I don't want/need a lot of the features, and not sure how well it will work across the internet between sites. At the moment, I'm looking at intelliadmin remote control enterprise and thinking of trying out dameware remote support but was hoping for the opinions of others before I invest too much time in to too many different options.
