I read a post on here before mentioning that codec packs are bad. Using out of date codecs to circumvent copyright etc... Here I use k-lite mega codec pack though. At some point, I intend to get round to scripting or writing a small program that will automate the conversion of video files in a certain folder using default settings that I will determine. Then that way staff will just have to put their videos in a certain folder, copy the script or program into the folder or the video into the script/programme folder and then double-click the appropriate item to automatically convert their videos.

Might be a dumb question but which of the Smoothwall IPs should it point at and how do I point Smoothwall at the current ISA server?

Third party addons are in place so that shouldn't be a problem. So you're saying i need something to sit between the Smoothwall box and the internet connection to act as a bridge and do NAT? Baically at the moment, the bit I want to get working is the folliwing: Internet---> Cisco---> Core switch---> ISA server---> Smoothwall Express---> Clients So would this bit be doable? By that I mean, is it feasable to point the clients to the Smoothwall Box and then point the Smoothwall box to the ISA server so that the traffic passes through? Hope that makes things clearer. Things are making sense in my head but I'm not sure whether I'm conveying my thoughts properly, seems the brain to keyboard interface is malfunctioning. I believe dgsmith might have their Smoothwall Express box set up in the manner I am initally looking for, minus the ISA server of course.

At the moment our Internet connection is provided by the local authority and is filtered using Websense. This then comes into our school via (I believe) a Cisco router that I believe shares the connection between about 10 schools and then is sent up to our core switch. The core swich has an ISA server (not administered by us) hanging off of it like a client machine. So basically: Internet---> Cisco---> Core switch---> ISA server---> Clients Ideally what I'm looking for is a way for the Smoothwall Express box to sit (like a client machine, as our ISA server does) and log all internet traffic and provide necessary filtering until we are satisfied that it does a sufficent job and then remove the ISA server. So: Internet---> Cisco---> Core switch---> ISA server---> Smoothwall Express---> Clients Then eventually: Internet---> Cisco---> Core switch---> Smoothwall Express---> Clients Just to complicate matters, we have a Ranger Guardian box thathopefully the Smoothwall box will replace as well. The reason I haven't mentioned it untilnow is because it uses a client programme to check on screen text and filter the urls before they get to the ISA server. We I can get all this sorted then we may well look at getting our own dedicated line in for internet, with the Smoothwall box also acting as a firewall. So would be something along the lines of: Internet---> Smoothwall Express---> Core switch---> Clients If I'm talking utter tripe, please let me know. The main part of this, is the first step of getting the traffic to pass through the Smoothwall box and then to the ISA server (without interrupting things if possible). EDIT: Must mention thatif the Smoothwall Express box is successful and easy enough to use then we'd probably upgrade to a Paid for Smoothwall box (Schoolguradian maybe?).

I hope this doesn't happen. It'd be a shame to have F1 coverage interrupted by adverts if it had to be moved to another network. If it went on SkySports then I'd be gutted because I don't have that package. I'd also be gutted if it was aired on Eurosport because Eurosport is utter tripe and their MotoGP commentators do my head in. Fingers crossed that someone sees sense.

Can't you just use the Software Installtion settings in Group Policy and also use the GPO settings to redirect the desktop, wallpaper and the start menu to customized ones?

I just wish my local sold it. Unfrotunately the only local pubs that sell it are the ones I don't regularly grace with my presence.

At the end of the day, we have all machines set to shutdown at a specific time. Last night however, some did not. The ones that did are admin machines which are excluded from the all machines shutdown task and are set to shutdown later in an admin machines shutdown task. According to RangerREACT, all tasks ran yesterday. I have no idea where to look for errors regarding Ranger. Already had a peep into the event log on a machine that didn't shutdown and can't see any relevant error messages or events. Also checked a machine that did shutdown and still nothing. Any ideas?

I'mm going to be the irritating person who points out that you should have an inventory of all machines with serial numbers, names, locations etc... If you did, you could do a query to find all the computers in AD then export that list to a CSV file. Then you could do a lookup referencing your inventory to your AD export or your AD export to your inventory and the machines that dont't have a lookup are your dead machine accounts.

If it's in your budget, they shouldn't be taing it off you full stop. At least that's my understandingof budgets.

One thing that has sprung into my mind is that on my Windows 7 machine in the office I had to enable the remore registry service. Sophos requires this for install and I believe on Vista and 7 it's disabled by default.

Are you installing on a clean Windows Install? If not I'd remsav the machine and then try it again. The latest version of Sophos that we have here doesn't always liketo remove the old version and then it just fails.

I'd go for the Aston. There's something about them that just does it for me. Even when car reviewers have said it's better to get the V12 Vantage rather than the V8, I'd still be tempted to get the V8 for the noise it creates and it's an Aston. ...Now, to find the cash for one.

I'd invest in STP. After all, it's called shielded twisted pair for a reason...just in case I need to, that means it's shielded against EM interference. BTW, just joking about the telling you what it does. I'm in a bit of a jokie mood today. Lol.

The generally having no money thing is bumming me out. Although that is due to be rectified soon enough. Good job too, sick of having had the bike in the garage due to poor road conditions. Been dying to get it out and go for a blast along some country roads. Also wanna buy a DSLR, maybe move out of parents house etc...
