i'm installing TMG as were licensed 4 it, it just was later in my upgrade plan. apparently quite easy to enforce safe search as it has built in function for it.

we are using LA provided filtering, some cisco appliance i have limited control over. only requesting specific domains urls to block. we have isa in house which i use to block stuff locally based on AD group membership

how do you enforce safe search?

ICMP is a different protocol to HTTPS which I'm sure you know, ping / tracert proves network connectivity but does not take into account packet / port filtering for the protocol u wish to connect with in this case HTTPS. are you connecting via proxy?

Has anyone tried googles new instant preview? This is some filler text so that the problematic word does not still appear in the text preview of this thread in order to prevent overzelious LA filters from blocking entire pages of the site because of it change your search mode to safe filter off and search for the word porn, and then click on the magnifying glass on the result, works inside school google is now completely blocked inside out school until we can block the instant preview

I'd buy a new server capable of running Windows VMs, use your Server 2003 license to create a new domain controller / print server VM and stick Linux on your old server to use as a backup/file server.-- David Hicks Would it really be wise to use the old server as a file server?? had no problems with them at all. edit: I lie. one of them was doing something really strange, the users described it as printing one behind. i think you printed something. nothing came out or all but 1 page came out. and then another user printed something and your last page came out. tbh I'm not entirerly sure, one of the technicians fixed, maybe the duplex was confusing with 1 sided printing? was probably a driver issue. i recently moved all the print queues to a new server with the latest HP universal driver for every single printer, and haven't had any problems since. maybe with lots of different drivers there are identically named but different version dlls that can cause problems? any way I'm rambling. peace.

were getting pcounter, departmentally they will be charged. but they will be printing to the photocopiers. cards / keypad to pick up there printing.

funny i never had any problems putting the x86 driver on, straight on the server.

i've been running 2008 r2 DC's with XP clients for about a year now. its worth installing group policy client side extensions on the XP machines. for example if you want to make registry changes to machines you don't need write custom ADM files, the new group policy management has a built in registry editor, you will need the group policy extensions on the xp clients though.

has anyone noticed though, when the network gets checked over free of charge. you all need to buy something from them

there is also block/allow built into the newer versions of DHCP server. 2008 R2 yes. 2008 maybe. 2003 downloadable add-in. but yes reservation with stupid ip would be preferable

we've got a portion of the website you login to and it gives you your home directory, and access to the shared areas. also have a terminal server thing going on, where you can login and get a "desktop" which has SIMS and all the school applications on. you do have to be a member of the special club to use that though,

i bought a server recently I budgeted 5k for it. didn't come to anywhere near it, and this is what I bought. DL380G6 - Quad Additional CPU Additional 24GB RAM FC HBA GBIC for SAN switch Quad Port NIC --- > Added this for other servers 32gb of RAM 3 x Quad Port Nics came in just over 4k ended replacing all the patch cabling for the servers to the switch ( colour coded + colour coded boots ) replaced all the fibre cabling for the SAN still had loads of change, and bought some other stuff, I can't remember.
