the idea is that they don't have to log in to paypal but just go through their secure server section (so to speak) key in their cc details then return to the website. or that's how the example goes.

I'm as guilty as those I complain of, (not providing details). having visited the paypal site over the weekend, including your link above, I've followed instructions and tried to set up shopping cart, creating the button etc, but I just get redirected to the paypal login page when I click on buy.

has anyone got any experience of integrating a paypal shopping cart (of any kind) on a website? some guidance would be gratefully received.

in our case we have a naming convention for staff usernames, then set the password to xxxxxxxxx (not literally xxx...) and force the user to change their password at first login. I've never come across two teachers choosing the same password yet, which doesn't mean that it won't happen, but the username convention will sort that out

it's off the subject a little but -

as someone who worked as a photographer in the music business for almost 25 years, and had to photograph 100's of bands onstage, often in appaling conditions, I never took a breath for 17 years.

if you're not going to use a tripod then try and lean against something to steady yourself, and stop breathing. take a breath, hold it, wait a second until you're steady, then gently press the shutter release, or better still, use the timer, using the countdown to reframe your masterpiece and draw breath. before you take the shots you need to take, have a practise and view the results, you may need to "push" the exposure a few stops to get a better image, that's if you've got time. as it's not a heavy/bulky lens, exposure times of a 30th of a second should be a cinch, conversly, because the camera's got some substance to it, that will help reduce movement.

I have a lot of half-formed ideas regarding me doing this. I'm 53 now, not as old as some on these forums, and while I can't see myself slowing down and easing into retirement, I do wonder if it will benefit me and the school I'm currently at, especially with all the BSF uncertainty. However, being the son of immigrants (they came over from Europe after the War) there's a part of me that says, "get in there and do it" it's another possible escape route should things go belly up on this side of the educational fence. Is it bourne out of fear? So with this dichotomy I've set another hare running in my head, which means another night's sleep lost. Still, I can finish that website. There I go again.

not so long ago, in a forum post not very far from here, someone posted a link to a 3 year online course leading to a degree in, I think, Educational IT. Grumbledook seemed to be involved somewhere down the line and I believe the cost was something like 1.2K. Can anyone recall the post or the link? Thanks beeswax

We've been told that anything over 3 years old (don't know if that includes the techies) will be replaced with brand new equipment, and as the new build is 3/4 years away, not to buy any more IT equipment unless it's really necessary. look forward to fun and games in a few years time as more resource hungry educational software is released.

wave 4-6 here. scheduled for a rebuild in about 3/4 years time. still trying to get information from the council/lea about their plans for us by asking nicely, if that fails then it's FoI. Our SMT don't want to loose us because I think for the most part they appreciate the fact that we're on site and can sort out a variety of stuff there and then.
