Sorry about the delay, but can I thank everyone for taking part in this (not very rigorous) survey? The VLE clamour from various members of the SMT seems to have died down at school, but I'm waiting for the aftermath of BETT before trying to tie people down to something specific. I don't want this to fall in my lap on December 15th 2007 with a deadline of February 2008.

had a reply from RM which runs as follows; Log into the APS Select Schools, Manage Internet Access Click on the run now link. This should remove the error. Will try in the morning when I get in to the ofice

I think it's the case that you're automatically approved.

just scanned the names on the signature list 4 times. can't see my MP's name. his letter is dated 4th Dec. so I'll give him a little time before I write again (he's no email account-grrr) EDIT- name's there now.

just had a reply from my MP, a former teacher, saying that he's put his name to the EDM, and goes on to add, "It will save schools millions and not only that, will enable them to carry out their work in ICT more efficiently." However, as he's also still a local Councillor who fully endorses the proposed BSF scheme, I'm not sure he quite grasps what this may mean for schools in terms of the software options we're likely to have in the future. Time for another letter.

slightly off beam, but all of a sudden this afternoon pupils couldn't access DiDA, this is why someone up above had blocked *dida* without consulting schools.

At our school we've reached a tipping point in deciding which VLE to go for, and after a meeting with my line manager yesterday I need to ask Edugeek members some questions. I currently provide a Moodle site from my own web space which teachers use via the IWB, it's not ideal. 1. Which VLE do you use? 2. Why was it chosen? 3. How much did/does it cost? 4. Do you have a dedicated VLE "operative" or do you manage it from within the IT department? 5. Do staff/pupils find it easy to use? 6. How well does it integrate with other software? 7. If you were offerd the chance, would you trade it in for another VLE? 8. Why would you trade it in? I'm not looking for long answers, or arguments for or against a particular VLE. Thanks.

thanks for all the info. I should have added we use MDaemon. As for police and new incidents, I was driving down a road several years ago when a van pulled out without looking, resulting in my ploughing into the side of it. Luckily, there was a police car coming the other way and they witnessed the whole incident. Naturally they pulled over and rushed to my aid babbling that they'd never witnessed an accident before and how lucky they were etc before seeing me up against the steering wheel. late last night a nasty little message was sent to one of our staff via a hotmail account set up for that purpose. Has anyone had any experience of tracing, or is it possible to trace, the sender of this diatribe? I had a look round msn last night but couldn't see much help. Any help on this would be appreciated, even if only to say, "Nope, it can't be done", which I suspect may be the case.

I've tried that (naming and shaming - cc your email to the head) but it didn't have any effect on certain staff. One teacher was actually trying to cut and paste her content directly onto the site. Bless.

can I suggest installing the Scorm module then uploading the Scorm content the same way as you would any other file? I'm about to try this myself later this week so I'd be interested to know if it works. Perhaps Dagza would be of more help? Isn't the site so much faster at this time of the day?

Miles Berry has also mentioned it in his blog. I did link to it but it was at the end of another post. I was going to email my MP but he hasn't got an email address. I have written to him though, it is important.
