could you not use the 'autorun' command? i.e. [autorun] open = name of cdrom burn it onto the root of the cdrom as "autorun.inf" to get an idea of how it works, find a pre recorded cdrom which autoruns, right click to Explore and look for the autorun.inf file. hope this helps

Apache2Triad running 2 sites from different drives

I'm having to return to this as I thought I'd got it solved, but like news year's resolutions, it all disappeared on new years day. Like alan-d I'm hosting locally while I get my head round design etc but I can't figure out why on D: I have D:\moodle\install.php - This should I believe be localhost/moodle/install.php isn't working for me. Using Apache2Triad. -
happy new year to all Had a quick google this morning and came up with this, and this. I have to hold my hand up here and say that most of the conversation relating to implementing SIMS and Moodle on the moodle site is above my head. Ideally, I'd like to see an out of the box solution which can be implemented (between SIMS and Moodle) quickly and easily, but suspect that in these early days it's going to be a bit more Heath Robinson.

happy bloody christmas! that's tmesis for you. lol *EDIT* Actually, that's not tmesis. Tmesis is, for example, abso-bloody-lutely, inserting one word into another (at it's most basic). I've only had one bottle of Kaliber, officer.

...and playing the part of Scrooge this year

actually, it doesn't look too bad. I think I expected more from the "virtual tour" though, and I haven't checked any of the other klinks (that's a typo, but I think I'll leave it in because i like the sound of it)

also done a quick google for one of their "school" sites, Treviglas Community College, and I can't find the site. The school exists according to the Cornwall council website, though. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I was going to use WSS for the Staff intranet and attempt to implement the Helpdesk and various other features which would go some way to satisfying BECTA's FITS Framework. I'd be interested to read other people's ideas for developing this along with a VLE. -
brand new, in that I had to peel off the celophane wrapper to get at them. I've tried the boot disk from the old(er) version of the laptop with several other types of machine, and I get the disk to attempt to load, but the GT won't have it, but it will boot from a Win98 floppy. Ghost 8 boot cdrom is my next try

just tried that and all I saw was "a" with a superscript "n" (as you might write a squared), then it hung again.

the Edit button seems to be missing

haven't even got as far as that point. the machine just hangs when it should be loading drivers from the floppy with the cursor blinking away top left.

We have some new Stone laptops, model GT1WS, which are a step up (sata drive, dual core) from their LM13WS models, but in all other respects are identical, same nic etc. I managed to get the LM13WS to boot into the ghost console without too many problems, once the Broadcom nic problem had been solved, however, the new laptops won't boot from the same floppies. They'll boot from a Win98 boot floppy and from a program such as BootIt NG. Has the panel any suggestions?

the operation might be reversible, but I've quite got used to being cross-over rather than straight through thank you.

I seem to have lost the ability to edit my posts. I meant to say "objection/route", and the final word should read "explored". It is a little anal, I know, but I come from a generation who like to see a sharp crease in their trousers and a well ironed...(continued page94)

I can only tell you what I was told at a meeting at my daughter's Foundation school, where as part of the BSF deal the council is planning to close several 6th forms, and create one central 6th form college. When I pointed out that foundation school funding doesn't come from the council, I was told quite bluntly that the government would stop that part of the funding covering the (Foundation) 6th form. Now, I've been told, by some members on these forums, that 6th form funding comes from a different "pot", and that stopping funding might be a little more difficult than the council employees said at the meeting. It was just the finality with which they said it that made me feel as if this /objectionroute had been thoroughly explore.

you lost me after "Apache" lol. I should have added that pupils will connect to the VLE via the website, so will your above instructions still apply? thanks Craig -
My school has a new server on which they want to run the school website and VLE (Moodle), and it's been divided into 2 drives, C:\ for the website and A2T, and D:\ for the VLE. Is this possible, and if so, how is it achieved? *EDIT* My school hada new server which just blue screened.

you need as many spare machines as you think necessary. it all depends on how reliable your current kit is. we sit a pupil at every machine as this isn't an exam, such as the Edexcel one, which requires that you give a right or wrong answer (in its simplest form). there should be some "familiarisation exams" downloaded to your server pretty soon, if they aren't already there. It's good practice that you conduct them as if they were the real thing, things are going to go "wrong", from pupils "accidentally" typing in the wrong password, to machines freezing etc. just make a note of this and read up.
