My 05 Megane is exactly the same - indeed any of the front bulbs. It is really easy when you know how though, possibly easier than skinned knuckles and strange contortions of your hands and arms to reach through the gap on a 'normal' car. This sort of thing is all part of the charm of French electrics though - much like why my passenger side front window is disconnected (it opens itself when it feels like it and then wont shut!).

Yeah, they are quite big and quite heavy. And very bright. They also give out a lot of heat, being mainly a 1300W halogen lamp inside a glass bowl.

Back in May 2012 I was at 20st for my 6ft height and decided enough was enough. Both my wife and I joined Weight Watchers at that point, and since then I have lost over 4 stone just by following the plan. No proper exercise to speak of, just a bit of leisure cycling in the summer and trying to fit in some walking during the week. Haven't significantly changed what I eat for meals, just sensible portions and thinking about healthy alternatives. Even snacking hasn't had to go, just be re-thought. Had a bit of a slip over Christmas and put on 2.5lbs (and expect a bit more this week) but I'll get back to it. Just another 3 stone or so to go to be a 'healthy' weight by BMI. I'd recommend it to anyone - it's not as hard as you think. The points system is easy to follow (there are good online and mobile apps to help 'track') and no food is banned. It's certainly not all tasteless ready meals or anything like that. If you love something, you can have it, just maybe at the expense of something else, or in moderation. I've managed to have a Chinese before and stay on plan. Depending on your area, you might even qualify for a GP referral if you are above healthy BMI - this gives you 12 weeks free. That is the only downside, it is a bit expensive at about £22ish a month. Sorry if I sound like I'm trying to sell it, I've just been blown away by how much it has helped me achieve. I'd never have thought this time last year I'd lose that much weight in 2012 - crisps and chocolate were too much of favourites to me!

We have got one, it's very good. We use it more than the main oven now - for two adults and two under 5s. That said, if you are going to get one, I'd say get one with a hinged lid assembly - being glass and having all the controls and the lamp, the lid is heavy and gets very hot, so a loose one you have to find somewhere to put down would be a pain. I was given exactly one of those a few years ago as a gift. It was completely useless - virtually no heat and pathetic airflow. Not even any good as a fan in the summer!

I would have been up for this in previous years, but been doing WeightWatchers with the Mrs since May and heading into my first weight-watching Christmas, so no gorging for me! :-(

The UPS's should be linked to the servers, which should be running special software which will enable to servers to automatically shutdown in the event of power failure - thus ensuring the servers shut down cleanly rather than just being shut off with the power cut. UPSs aren't generally intended to keep systems up for any length of time, just to provide backup power for long enough to sustain a controlled shutdown.

Yes, in theory that should work. Although you might find the wires inside a little on the thin side. Better option would be some proper speaker cable and solder on a new phono plug - if you're into that sort of thing.

I think the slightly eerie looking ones are just HDR photos. Which always makes them look a bit false to me!

Unfortunately the Atom processors will hold things up quite spectacularly IME. We have a number of netbooks here and they are painfully slow.

Sounds like priorities might be wrong if there is £70k allocated to spend with no particular purpose for it. Of course, there is plenty of value you could do with the money, but it's a lot to spend on anything without an identified need for it.

We've got a vtech dect one. Good reception, rock solid (it's been dropped down the stairs more times than I care to remember), although nothing fancy. There's no video and no talkback, but a handy 'play lullaby' function which our little one likes.

Not to throw a spanner in the works, but how much do you know about the area and street? I would potentially be concerned that two houses next to one another were being sold at the same time. Indeed, and also that we live in an expensive part of the country.

Wow! Coming from the South Coast, I'd happily buy either of these at those prices!! It currently costs me nearly 10k to rent a 3 bed house smaller than those for a year!! Seriously, the 109k one looks the better house to me.

Sorry, yes bit of confusion, I was suggesting adding terminals to the four vacant outer positions on the original car connector to provide the rear speaker feed. The connector allows for front and rear L & R outputs, just the current connector doesn't have the terminal pins fitted. Certainly, don't wire extra speakers to 'piggyback' the front connectors!

What I would do is get hold of the cheapest wiring adaptor I could find that had ISO connectors (the black and white plugs in your pics are ISO connectors), then remove the two outer pairs of connections from the white connector, splice them to new speaker cables and then insert these connections into the car's white ISO connector. Voila, you then have wiring for rear speakers and the car's original wiring is intact. Older Renault's can have debatable wiring so it's best to avoid messing with the car's wiring loom if you can help it.

I've solved both problems in the last half-hour: eaten the Haribo, and found some drivers online that means the unit can be used as a USB hub, external sound card and a USB-VGA adaptor. So result! Only had to dismantle the whole thing to ID the chips then google to them to work out the relevant ones and found a StarTech set of drivers that work! Cool! I hope you are enjoying the haribo @Little-Miss it seems you may have got most of everyone else's share! :-)

Thanks to @VeryPC, received my Multi Point Workstation thingy today. Just to work out what we can do with it now... I think the two of us here are going to have to fight over the one pack of haribo though!!

I wouldn't bet on that - I was in an O2 shop a few weeks back and tried to redeem a 'Priority Moments' code online using the data signal and it actually dropped completely whilst in the shop. No 3G, Edge or even GPRS at all!! Had to register onto their wifi in the end. And the guy in the shop didn't even seem to agree it was embarrassing!
