Sorry to be a bit dumb this time of morning.. but how do I sync via NTP ? I see where the net time works on Workstations booting everyday but how do the servers work as they are never booted ?

OK.. I wish had a holiday... the site owes me 4 weeks I keep getting a flyer through the door that advertises small or big jobs and where you want the data points.. I'll pass on the info as they seem tp be able to do 2 or hundreds..
-
WHY.. get the professionals in and tell them exactly where you want the points.. i can't be arsed to cable ... It's my job to keep the Network running and thats a big enough job when you have 1400 Kids and 600 PC's to look after...

As I have mentioned before.. The In-House ICT at a School puts the School first and is only obligated to the School, Staff and Students A managed service company has to put it's shareholders first, and school second and is only obligated and responsible to making profit for the shareholders.. Thats what businesses are in existance for.. to make a profit...

is it possible not to have a logon account and just have a desktop short cut so the staff can just log the fault with their Name and Room number ? Like no authentication or logon to helpdesk needed it's open to all staff.. Like no Downloads, No Announcements , no Knowledge Base The user just clicks a link on the desktop... clicks a larger SUBMIT HELP REQUEST and then it has the USER name and Room on top ?

Grumbledook and Broc are Senior Mangers very knowledgeable and articulate... I am not ... I am a Middle Manger and a bit spiky.... I am sorry that you seem offended by my replies and I shall lay off using the word fool.. or any other derogatory terms about your naivety of the BSF.. I have been through the BSF and never in my life have I seen so many people strive to make as much money as they can... with no consideration of the working community around them…. They say they do but it’s all hollow buzz words…

Is your ICT Support staying In-house ?
-
Our Build was fleeced over £1/2 a Million by "consultants"... and they just did what they wanted and advised to what they thought was right.. And they have no concern about you or your department... They just work to a whole load of BSF / Government t Buzzwords.. They pretend to be interested and care in what you have and have done.. but this is to let your guard down and make the assimilation of the Community easier.. as if they came in a told you what was really going to happen then you would resist and be obstinate and make their job harder In-fact they will advise the powers that be that the whole of the ICT Support should be outsourced as per BSF and BECTA guidelines... (this is where you'll have to fight as all the other staff will be TUPED in-house but the ICT will be handed over.. if you fight hard enough you might be able to keep ICT in-house) So if not in-house you'll be TUPED to the Managed Service Company that wins the ICT contract as a technician… but if you do well (as we were told at the Edugeek finder mission). You might become a lead technician if you prove yourself… From Place's website http://www.place-group.com/services_11.htm The Government's guidelines for 'Fulfilling Potential' and the drive for 'E-Confident' schools is the focus of our work to support the transformation of teaching and learning. We consider how to maximise efficiencies for the LEA and schools through area-wide managed services and facilities management, and the training requirements and technical support to provide inclusive learning for all
