Are you ready for Windows 11? No? tough! Expanding invitations to move to Windows 11 to more people | Windows IT Pro blog (microsoft.com) What do they class as non managed? This is going to cause hell i'd imagine. We used to run WSUS but retired it a couple months back.. all of our devices are domain hybrid joined/registered so I'm guessing this will hit my school

I also use Salamander, does a lot of useful stuff for me also - saves a lot of work! Well worth the yearly payment. I let Bromcom manage + provision our 365 teams. The solution that Rob_D gave has worked a treat.

Microsoft offered a script for this https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-intune-blog/understanding-readiness-for-windows-11-with-microsoft-endpoint/ba-p/2770866 If you have some sort of RMM tool you would be able to silently run this across your estate

2nd recommendation for Sharp with Papercut. As JRA said, anytime I have needed an Engineer, they are fairly swift getting here, usually same day!

Allowing ChatGPT to students?
Olliedawg replied to FragglePete's topic in AI in Education & Enterprise
I have chatGPT + Copilot blocked here for students. Staff are allowed though. -
Hey Darren - I got registered via our Data manager, cheers

Glad to hear you don't need to login to the new control panel. Sick of needing a login for literally everything!

IMO the only things which should be phyiscal nowadays is the Host which has the hypervisor on, so ESXI HyperV etc.. Only have 2 hosts at my secondary, 10 VM's between them. To be honest I could probably go down to 1 host, however I like having the redundancy of a DC on each host. The only time I would consider not virtualizing is where you find older machines running very specific software/hardware to control various manufacturing machines etc..

Screen-Lock times for teaching staff

Curveball one here, set to 45 minutes. Probably is a bit too long, might look at reducing it to maybe 20. -
Amazing!! This should do the trick

Hi Matt, Thanks for the reply - I am not on the Bromcom Community or support pages, however i've asked our MIS/Data manager if she can get me set up on there. I'll take on board those suggestions & do some testing

This has serious potential, loved playing borderlands on my PS3

Before I open a ticket with Bromcom I thought i'd just ask the hivemind here Scenario : We have Teams Classes for each Class group, Teams classes are created via the Bromcom o365 integration to automatically create & populate based on Group membership in Bromcom. The problem I am facing, is that members of Pastoral / SLT like to be members of certain Teams classes, which they are not a member/teacher of in Bromcom. Is there a way for me to exclude them from the collection, so that they don't get removed in the next sync? I normally run a sync once per term, so isn't a major issue.. just a manual task of adding back the various SLT/Pastoral to the required teams

Can confirm this works, this is the method I have used. Copied the shortcut shared desktop, works a treat.

Also use Mosyle free.. it does the job for my situation, managing a small number (20) of shared iPads.. The paid version has waayy more functionality, however I agree with you on the layout/clunkyness

Enforced 2FA: Conditional Access solution in schools
Olliedawg replied to AnimatedCarrots's topic in Windows
I saw that blog post too. From what I can make out, I think we're ok for now. All of the admin role accounts in my tenant already have MFA so that's no issue. I was more concerned over staff/students as we haven't rolled out MFA yet for users.. I'm planning on (hopefully) getting Microsoft A3 licences to manage MFA for staff.- 18 replies

Enforced 2FA: Conditional Access solution in schools
Olliedawg replied to AnimatedCarrots's topic in Windows
Going to have a look at this tomorrow morning. Hoping I can buy some more time to hopefully persuade SLT to purchase the A3 licences. I've read a few blogs & there was one I found interesting : https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-entra-blog/auto-rollout-of-conditional-access-policies-in-microsoft-entra/ba-p/4044870- 18 replies

I think you may be right. I can’t find anything on the old Google search. Scanned through all the Mosyle settings multiple times

Enforced 2FA: Conditional Access solution in schools
Olliedawg replied to AnimatedCarrots's topic in Windows
Well due to this I’m going to push for Microsoft a3 licences. I think the ratio staff:student wise for this is 1:45- 18 replies

Not 100% sure, but I think you would be breaking licencing terms by just having P1 on the GA..- 18 replies

Olliedawg replied to AnimatedCarrots's topic in Windows
Following, first I've heard on this.. How does this affect tenants with just the A1 licences? I can't set up conditional access policies unless I purchase P1 or at least Microsoft A3- 18 replies

All of our iPads are school owned, enrolled/supervised devices. We don't have many iPads (15) & they are all setup as shared devices in a trolley, which students can just pick up and use for web browsing & a couple of apps. Internet access is blocked unless a user signs into the captive portal. I have got them locked down fairly well, apart from these few WiFi settings. I can't see anything i'm missing on the restrictions profile - unfortunately we are on the free version of Mosyle so have no official support from them.

As above, next time you fill up, use some of the e5 99 octane stuff, might help also? (Tesco Momentum, BP Ultimate etc..)
