Does this not also disable 1-1 chat between a teacher, and student for example?
-
If you are blocking Teams chat between students (private chats), how are you doing this? I've looked at the "Information barriers" feature in Purview, however this seems to require a licence to use. (as usual)

Password manager. Password is also stored in the confidential safe which only the Head/CFO have access to.

Ended up going for Action1. It was a hard choice between that and PDQ however. Have been happy with Action1 so far, not really any complaints

Yep, Canva is brilliant. Use it loads -
Surely an IT teacher should know that natively running code on a student machine isn't the best idea. Get everything in writing. Could you explore using VM's instead & running code in those?

We're always clearing our 64GB models. We use them as shared devices so they fill up after 5 or so student logins. Will keep an eye on this post to see how you got on with your upgrade!

[ms office - o365] Microsoft Publisher - EOL 2026
Olliedawg replied to thimon's topic in Office Software
It will be removed from the 365 apps package I believe. If you want to carry on using Publisher you would need to use one of the LTSC Office versions which still has publisher -
All fine here. Self hosted though using gamma sip

Olliedawg replied to networkmanager's topic in AI in Education & Enterprise
Bumping this thread as we have a couple members of staff which we would like to trial ChatGPT with. I'm assuming the "Team" option is best for a select few users? Same with the OP i just had concerns reg GDPR -
A car vs money scenario... Please help me make up my mind!

If it has a turbo it will more than likely be a Ecoboost. As long as you keep up with oil changes they are OK.. but they definitely don't have a good reputation. The timing belt deteriorates as it runs in the oil over time, this is what causes the issues -
Sophos here (not on list)

Olliedawg replied to IanT's topic in Educational IT Jobs
I've had a look through the Job description.. that is crazy for that money, sorry. I'd be surprised if you get any applicants at all -
Already running latest DSM, plus latest update for Active Backup app. Tried restarting the NAS also I'll wait a few days and see if it does pop up

Wondering if anyone else has come across this before on the Active 365 Backup On our Synology NAS we use the Active 365 backup for all of our Teams/Groups/Users.. I've noticed that there are a few Teams which aren't visible in the "Sharepoint" list, but are in the Team/Group list. Due to them not being in the sharepoint list the files etc are not backed up... I've tried refreshing the list & the site does not appear.

Have you tried the one I suggested as a computer policy? I tried it on my laptop & it seemed to work Administrative Templates/System/Power Management/Video and Display Settings - Turn off the display (plugged) - Turn off the display (battery)
-
From what i've read it looks like it did previously work. What Mikes suggested is the recommend option
-
Try this - i believe this also locks the PC, will need to test that though to confirm. This is a computer policy however. Administrative Templates/System/Power Management/Video and Display Settings - Turn off the display (plugged) - Turn off the display (battery)

Ours are a mix of 22" & 23", never had any complaints with these

Do you have a firewall after the ISP router? Can you configure the VLANS here? That’s what I do. ISP Fibre modem > ISP Router > school owned firewall (VLANS here) > Core switch
-
LTSC is an option but depends on their needs. Various Microsoft applications won't be supported on LTSC after Windows 10 EOL. (365 apps and Teams to name a few)

What sort of IT consultant recommends bodging windows 11 installs... on 12 year old hardware.. The ESU licences are dirt cheap for edu, they will buy you more time I'm in a similar boat, few IT rooms still to do & no money
