  1. Videos of the school and YouTube Live for questions to be answered. I’d be interested seeing the drone footage inside the school.

    MS Teams

Using the app or web browser? Have they tried signing out of the app and back again?

    Tablet stylus

We picked some up from amazon for £30. I could find out on Monday which ones but they worked with our iPads but not with an iPad Pro
  4. Powerpoint live is a new way of delivering presentations to remote audiences

  5. Happy birthday and thanks to the Admin and a odd for this great community
  6. We did all of the above, the school owns it and the land is private. This is not a toy, crashing it costs money. I’d be interested to know what they intend to do with it.
  7. Why not remove the interactive board and go for a whiteboard the projector screens onto? Then get a stylus for their iPad and an app for writing on like noteability? Or have I missed something
  8. Using safari, if you open a thread in a new tab From What’s New, it works but won’t let You if you open a hyperlink. If you just click the link it works
  9. My previous school we had the Welcome Pack online with info and any forms were completed via a Google Form rather than loads of sheets of paper. I would create a page on your website and maybe offer Summer Homework there too. We did for Y11-Y12 students. If you are referring to just ICT, I wouldn’t bother, they will loose it and it will over complicate things at the start of term.
  10. We looked at Zoom and GTMeeting/GTWebinar but we got put off with the cost and the limited functions. We ended up going for YouTube live stream, comments turned off and had parents email questions in. It worked well apart from a blip with YouTube part way through. Video was then available for parents to view who were unable to attend.
  11. I have a Samsung Laser printer, cost about £50 with a toner that lasted ages. Bought 4 years ago, I bought a new toner this year.
  12. Copied from a Faceache post The Wearing of Face masks in a school setting... thoughts from a teacher who has survived the Bottle Flip, The Dab, Skirt Rolling,Fidget Spinners, Yawn Raping, Tie Peanuts.. Someone's mother, probably Flossie's, will pimp the mask. It will be a sea of rhinestones and sequins and every girl under 10 will want one and refuse to wear a 'boring' one and teachers and parents will cry. Then they all won't wear them. Someone will have a designer posh mask with a Hype label or some nonsense. They will all then want one and will drive their parents mental saying they can't possibly go to school with a homemade mask or even a proper clinical mask. These overpriced, clinically useless masks will sell out but few will get them and then there will be tantrums and they won't wear them. Girls aged 13 and above will notice they give you spots and then they won't wear them. The same girls will also need a new mask every 10 mins as it gets caked in their foundation and this is a faff so they won't wear them. The same girls will take 1000 selfies wearing the mask, hate it, hate themselves, roll it down a bit like their skirts so it becomes totally ineffective and then they won't wear them. Twanging the Mask (the new peanutting) will be great fun. Mostly for the boys who will twang the mask and shout CORONA at the top of their voices. They will do this to Flossie and rhinestones and sequins will be all over the classroom. She will cry, they will all get twanging friction burns and then they won't wear them. They wll draw penises on them. Anatomically quite accurate but hugely inappropriate and then we will have to confiscate them and tell them not to wear them. They will own a mask which they will wear on arrival at school and when reminded 1 million times by their teachers - that same mask will be left screwed up in their bags the minute the school day is over because they won't be seen dead outside the school wearing them. They will wear the mask at school when reminded 1 million times by their teachers, but once they start getting changed for PE, that mask and where it ends up is anyone's guess. And the chances of the same mask returning to its original owner after is 0%. So they won't wear them. They will wear their masks at break and lunch time when reminded 1 million times by their teachers, canteen staff and Mid-Day assistants. Someone will try to eat whilst still wearing the mask and end up with bolognese sauce all down the mask whereupon the other kids will take the micky forever more. So no one will wear the masks at break or lunch time.
  13. Or put it somewhere public
  14. My OH taught Robert Lindsay to sail at her centre.
  15. Like many I am WFH and also have a gaming brother that is isolating with us. He is currently sitting on a dining chair most of the day, let’s say budget is a around £150, what would you recommend (or not to bother with) as a chair for playing games on? TIA
  16. I’m going to turn the “Office” back into a conservatory/dining room in 40 minutes. We have finished our DIY painting, so I might create some Lego or make something with the wood I have lying about. Lamb on Sunday and an unexpected Click and Collect slot appeared so getting shopping on Monday. Enjoy the 4 day weekend Edugeeks
  17. 209 So eggciting
  18. Get their login and try it on another device/pc? We had it with a student, worked on parents but not on their device.
  19. I drove past Heathrow today (via M25), never seen the clear blue sky’s so empty of planes.
  20. Our laptop tree is quite extensive... it’s nearly bare. I intend to go in as much as I can to assist the students working from home and any staff working from their classrooms. What I won’t do, is walk around the school. I will isolate in the office.
  21. I would keep an eye on eBay/Facebook marketplace/Gumtree as I struggled to get rid of a Brother Wi-Fi colour laser printer, sold it for £10. Hardly used.
  22. Having worked with CC4 and Vanilla I’d say that a Vanilla is more technical. The joy of CC4 is ease for Allocating printers, software, allowing teachers to reset passwords, changing permissions, creating accounts etc.
  23. School in Hertfordshire closed till Monday
  24. I had one of these https://www.headsets4business.co.uk/product/plantronics-cs510-cs520-wireless-headset/ Connected to a Cisco handset. I answered the call via the phone rather than the headset, can’t remember why (old job) but the battery, clarity and ease of use was great. We bought them for the reception staff too
  25. So it’s February Half Term, is it a case of turning off that alarm or panicking you won’t get all those jobs done in a week? For me, the alarm is off...but I’ve got a long list of jobs to do at home. Currently it’s removing wallpaper from the hall way. What are you up to?
