Hi, Does anyone have a recommended solution for checking logs on Aruba switches? One huge annoyance with them throughout all their ranges is that upon reboot (forced or not), any logs prior to that are wiped, making finding the reasons for it extremely difficult, and the post-reboot log saying the equivalent of SIMS's Reason 0 is extremely unhelpful. I'm guessing a syslog server might be the best way but wanted to get some ideas before I put time into it. Cheers!

Allow 80 and 443 only. ICMP maybe for troubleshooting purposes. May need something else depending on printing solution but the likes of papercut webprint etc is 443 anyway.

Photopea is decent but I wouldn't rely on it for exams. There have been some VERY questionable adverts run on it too. Anything like GIMP a possibility?

Ah, we were all DJ's back in the day! I remember sitting on IRC using Winamp to stream to a couple of dozen folk. One of us stood out though and we all ended up tuning into him to the point where had thousands of listeners. He was also the first of us to get one of the new fangled Geforce cards so he was able to show some really funky visualisations!

Hi, Not quite as per the title but, for those using Google, how are you handling more complicated documents such as macro enabled spreadsheets, tracker spreadsheets from exam boards, data & finance manager spreadsheets, mail merges etc? I imagine the majority using Windows will be just using MS Office, but naturally there are schools fully using Chrome etc where this isn't feasible.

And indeed one isn't necessarily connected to the other - LAC doesn't always mean PP and vice versa. PP here is usually in reference to the school supporting them as you say and the device would then belong to the school. It's surprising how different the authorities handle some of it too, even just over a county border! (Bedfordshire seems to be way behind Northants for example but some of the Norfolk schools seem to have just about everyone on PP!)

This differs from LA to LA. For us it's generally entirely hands off - order it and hand it over, still sealed in the box. Free to advise parents/carers on how to look after it, security etc but entirely hands off, because the device belongs to them, not the school.

You will always need permanent staff in secondaries - usually 2, permanent, on site for secondaries of 1000+ and scaling up as appropriate. It's not a hard and fast rule as responsibilities will often vary as will specialisms (for instance music & media technicians may be under your remit). What works for one won't work for all of course - I've seen trusts with particularly large central teams and some with very few, but all have needed feet on the ground at each site. Primaries will vary, many have coped for years with visits from MSPs on a weekly basis, some need full time staff. With what you describe, I'd suggest more bodies on the ground to start with, with the view of moving them to a central support team when you have things at a better state and improving rather than firefighting.

Not as yet - their support has been diabolical to say the least, to the point where I'm actively considering moving to another school that isn't Google. The problem is one thing, their handling of it is just something else. It's just baffling, as streaming mode shouldn't be doing any sort of deletion anyway, and although it's easy to predict which thousand or so files get deleted in each go, it's never all files. Plus I can create files both locally and "online" and both get deleted.

Am I missing something, or is the HPE 1950 a "managed smart switch" - therefore it's only capable of static routing and that screenshot isn't related to that. Are there any settings for RIP? They're barely suitable as baseline edge switches let alone a core. Do you not have a proper router/firewall in place for instance from your ISP?

None of them have it installed on any device other than their staff laptop - we're trying to see if we can replicate the issue and that includes on a non-domain joined machine.

Going over everything with a fine toothed comb at the moment. If using the Google Drive app so you get G: drive (or whatever you've mapped it to) on your devices, could you please peruse C:\Program Files\Google\Drive File Stream and let me know if you have a "deleteonreboot" file? We're still trying to resolve our magically deleting files issue. This file appears present on most machines, however on a couple of the ones we're having issues with, the file contains some lines other than what I'd expect. I don't know the behaviour of this file, but I assume it's to tidy up after updates and should delete the files listed therein. The "bad" machines have the root folder listed. This might be something of nothing but would like to see if others have the same? Many thanks

Performance - a quick sync, for example if you need to manually assign a user to an address or something, that's a half an hour endeavour and is no quicker for one user than it is for 50. Always found Wonde's support quite good however, so can't knock that.

A common approach is to use a shared drive that the cover users have access to. Therein, create folders for date and class codes inside with the necessary files, and document that for the cover staff to get on quickly

Bizarre is certainly a good description! I can only assume that a certain set of circumstances has triggered it, but without knowing what they are, we're powerless to correct or even pause it short of removing the drive app. The worst thing about it is Google's support (or lack of). Would anyone happen to have a handy escalation contact please?
