You're trying to make square pegs fit round holes. The problem you need to deal with is the users not wishing to click on their profile picture, and click on a delegated inbox to gain access. (If you went the delegation route) That shouldn't end up as a day's long tech work event for a job that should take 3 minutes, because your staff aren't willing to do their bit.

Good luck. We're getting the resistance to change in some areas for a vocal minority, and Canva is becoming a bit of a scapegoat for them being upset that Publisher is being retired. There is a lot of change management going to be needed here as the misplaced frustation about losing the status quo from some is a bit obvious.

Are these apps checked at all by anyone at Google? - To some degree they are, but Google aren't going to do our due diligence for us. How do you trust an app, do you do any checks at all for GDPR/Privacy/Terms and Conditions, permissions requested, pricing, and if so what? (I feel these requests are going to be coming thick and fast once they realise, so I need to have a plan)... - Yes. We check all of these things. Nothing gets installed without an assessment at a minimum.

Well, that depends what you mean by worse. I've been looking forward to the end of Publisher for the better part of a decade and a half now! 🤣 Nothing quite like a document format that can 10x it size simply by overlapping a text box with another... We've gone SSO with Arbor, but the login screen and this button is still available. I am connected (as we're a MAT) to each of our schools systems... I'd really like Arbor to have a button so we can at least hide the "login with your email" section, so I don't end up with 27,000 emails with the title "Request for authentication app setup revoke in Arbor" I've had in the last 3 weeks 😭 I've just had to set up a rule to delete them automatically now.

Yes, this is EXACTLY what it is. They've seen a bunch of traffic and suspicious behaviour coming their way from your external IP address, so this kicks in, in an attempt to protect Google from that traffic.

Yes. It's a breach. The fact they've applied for the job is personal data under ol GDPR and this would be an unauthorised disclosure. I doubt it's reportable though as it's not likely to result in a risk to the person's rights and freedoms. Personally? Record it as a near-miss/breach, let the DPO know and let them decide if its reportable. I wouldn't say it was though as the emotional distress really is low. There was every chance the 5 applicants would become aware of each other during interview processes, and if it was only disclosed to the other colleagues also applying, they're not going to suffer discrimination and financial loss from that. It's not like every colleague has been told about a medical concern, for example. Also send each of them an individual email apologising (dear god, do not send to all again!) and getting them to delete said email (though obviously you can do that centrally, it's better if you ask people to do so as it looks proactively like you're attempting to correct rather than cover up) then speak to the complainant directly to apologise.

Thursday Murder Club Oh boy. Distinctly average, badly miscast in places (Pierce Brosnan and Richard E Grant in particular but also David Tennant and Henry Lloyd-Hughes) and a really poor choice of location (I read the book and I never saw the retirement home as a more ostentacious Downton Abbey!) Oddly paced, and it didn't seem to land it's set up and pay off. For example, the cold case that starts the story. Felt like it was dropped entirely at one point, then it was suddenly remembered at the very end. Should've been a 4 part Sunday evening BBC thing.

I don't use SIMS or get involved with MIS's directly these days anymore but historically we always set up 1st September to 31st August as the school year (because it is!) and then enrolled students as and when they should be in. So if they're due in on the 3rd, as 1st and 2nd are inset days, you enroll them on the 1st as without the INSET days being where they are, they'd be enrolled. Isn't that how everyone is supposed to do it?!
