We have applied it to 21 schools so far and it seems to be working although I had PPG on the phone today saying they were investigating schools as they had seen some where the patch had been applied but the error still existed so same old, same old from PPG really

Apparently PPG are aware of the issue and are pushing out another DEX package tonight.

Yep - we are finding the same issue on several sites. Gotta love these DEX packages that they push without telling us.

From what I understand the choices are: FMS on premises - don't think I have heard anything about this dying yet. FMS Connected - basically a link to a hosted FMS server - same software etc. Just hosted on someone else's box FMS Next Gen - the all singing fully cloud version that they implemented then pulled as it didn't work. I believe they are currently testing it again after "modifications" My understanding of the Arbor Finance package is that our LA ultimately use Oracle and the exports from Arbor Finance don't have the right information/fields etc to be imported to that where as FMS does. Be interesting to see how it all pans out.

We had this about a week or so before half term. Loads of schools reporting it. Seemed to be the external IP range they were using. Came back after half term and it had gone away!

The point is even if you have a .bak file you are not legally able to pass that to Arbor Not saying I agree with it but those are the rules. LA Support units have been threatened that if they help with this they risk jeopardising their agreement with ESS etc.

Because local SIMS support units are being told if they help people migrate by providing .bak files etc. they will have their contract to support SIMS cancelled plus threat of court etc. I fear LEAs are being bullied in to the same position as schools. Not so much can't or won't help - more daren't help.

Printing them on credit sized card stickers seems like a good plan. If you print them on the card what happens when timetables change etc? Do you print a new card?

This thread "Chrome v124 - ERR_SSL_KEY_USAGE_INCOMPATIBLE" is relevant. That is the cause of the NS issue.

To play devil's advocate - this isn't a technical issue. It is a behavioural issue and the school should have policies in place to deal with these things. They should be dealt with using suitable sanctions as they would be for any other offence. However in the real world I know this doesn't happen and you will have to solve it using one of the methods already posted

We have an odd thing on the tenancies we support. Some users have been dropped to 100Gb and you can't increase it over that yet some are still showing at 1Tb and you can change those to what you want. Just tested and it let me give them 5Tb! All on the same A1 licence.

Thanks John. I appreciate business operates differently however there still must be a range of some sort or a max figure. I am just trying not to waste people's time - if I come along and the company think I would fit but then I say I need 50k and they say our max is 35k it is a bit pointless.

I rolled out about 6-700 across our trust. Staff took to them very well and soon fell in love with them however there was a whole trust strategy to go Chrome. Might be a different experience with only a couple. I would say you need Google Workspace (or what ever it is called now) to manage them. In terms of shares - move things to OneDrive or Google Drive depending on preference Printing seemed to work fine. It was a bit ago now so but I think we pushed an app out to them for that. Overall I think they are a great solution at a great price BUT I would caveat that with what I said earlier - we had whole trust SMT support and we pushed everyone that way.

In Power Automate I can get it to send emails but it sends 1 per line. In Excel I have got the contents of all the cells for each org in 1 cell using textjoin and Char(10). I get all of the correct items in a nice list but when I pass this to outlook via Power Automate it loses the formatting and I end up with a link of text. Also in Excel I have used the Hyperlink command - again I can get 1 email per line but it doesn't work if I use the single cell with all the lines in. As I say - it feels like I am missing one piece of the puzzle. Any help gratefully received. Thanks

Had a call with ESS yesterday and the only outcome was they have it logged as a major case and their devs are looking at it.

We are seeing several schools reporting this. Even with all the things above added we are still seeing failures. If I send an SMTP message using Powershell from the same computer that is running FMS it goes fine - just not via FMS. I turned off TLS 1.2 in IE and it worked so thought I had cracked it but it only worked once! Subsequent tests just fail. Tried it with a Yahoo account too and got the same results. Ran wireshark and as someone mentioned it seems unable to handshake properly and falls over using FMS. I have a remote session with ESS tomorrow so will we see what that brings but not hopeful. I did find an old article on their website that seemed to use a workstation patch to fettle it but that is now obsolete. Strange thing is we are seeing it across many versions of FMS client - 6.202, 204, 206 and 208 so it doesn't appear to be upgrade related. If anything remotely interesting happens I will post it on here.
