ordered one through Insight, from what I can make out it was the last one in the country! Thanks for the pointer there Theblacksheep. My intentions are to install esxi on it, upgrade the ram to 8Gb and install a second 250Gb hard drive configured as Raid 1. I plan to use it as a home server and a testbed for new OS releases and anything else I wish to experiment with!

does anyone know where these are still available? I missed this thread originally and see the offer has been extended until the end of January and really want one!

we are in a similar position. we had an ageing cc3 server infrastructure until the summer holidays when we virtualized in-house using vmWare vSphere 4. We had quotes from RM to move to CC4 but there is no way we could afford it. We are considering moving away from RM and implementing our own Server 2008 / Windows 7 infrastructure and consider the virtualization as the first phase of this transition. To be honest i didn't know that Server 2008 was not supported on cc4!

We use these with Iiyama hard glass monitors and attach the two to a HP workstation centre stand which in my opinion has all of the advantages of an RM One but is cheaper, higher spec and far easier to maintain ...

Hi, We are using the Edugeek Joomla 1.5 package and in general are getting on very well with it. What we are trying to tweak is change the height of the 'left' module so it matches the height of the 'main' content (which obviously varies page by page). I have set a background colour on the left module which is fine on the hompage but the background colour stops halfway down the page on other articles which is not great! I have tried setting the height to 100% and auto but the issue still persists, does anyone know a way around this?

we were in a similar boat. we had BackupExec installed on every physical server before virtualizing. We are now running vSphere 4 with three ESXi hosts. We went for vRanger Pro which works really well. Connects into vCenter (if you are running that) or individual esx hosts and allows you to either backup your entire infrastructure or specific VM's within it

we also run a script set as a scheduled task each morning. the script works perfectly for HP 7800 and 7900's but does not work with 8000's. Has anybody managed to WOL a HP Elite 8000? I think there must be something in the BIOS preventing this from working but can I find it ...

if you were asked for your ideas on how you would make the IT provision at a school/college (with no prior knowledge of their setup) what sort of things would you mention?

thank you for your replies i checked the shortcut and simloads.exe was not included in the path. i added that in and the update installed successfully when logged in as an administrator. however, when logged in as a staff user it jumps straight to the login box and then displays the 'incompatible database' message

basically we get an 'incompatible database' message on the client machines after running the the update on solus on the server. the client does not seem to attempt to run simsload.exe but cannot see why, permissions to the whole of the program files\sims folder seem fine any ideas?

can anyone advise the process you will take to run this update on sims? We moved from Integris to Sims last October. Every update i have had to run on sims has been problematic. thanks in advance

Hi, i have just installed a scrolling news package onto our edugeek joomla 1.5 package. The scrolling text works well inside an article. The speed and width can be changed by editing the plugin in plugin manager. to add scrolling text i simply add the code {text=text goes here} into an article and it works as expected. I created a new custom HTML module with the intention of displaying scrolling text in a module with position 'user1' instead. When i try adding the text into the module the scrolling text doesn't work and just displays the code exactly as entered into the module. Is there something i need to add to the code with this being a module not an article? Thanks in anticipation

i am looking into to doing a similar thing. we currently have three reasonable spec terminal servers (dual quad-core xeons) which i intend to use as the virtual hosts for our new infrastructure increasing the ram in each from 4Gb to 32Gb. The SAN i was looking at was a HP MSA2312i with an initial capacity of around 6Tb and a tape autoloader to take a snapshot of the data once a day. i intend to run vmware vsphere advanced total cost including training about £35k

having very similar issues here. tried rolling out the uninstall utility but hung as well ... ideally would like a way of removing flash from every machine regardless of what version and how it was isntalled and then rollout the latest release

Hi, What i would like to do is schedule a daily import of four .txt files into a joomla article to display the latest school news. I have a scheduled task which automatically uploads these four files to the web server every morning, i just need to display them (inside joomla if possible)! I was wondering if anyone has achieved anything similar or heard of any joomla extensions to achieve this? i have been searching but cannot find anything. Thanks in anticipation

yes i have. spoke to sims and was told that they had not even started testing on it. as 2008 r2 had already been installed and configured we did not want to have to reinstall the OS. sims advised that it should be okay running r2 but any severe problems then worst case scenario would be to rebuild the server to 2008. seems to run fine for us ...

i took my test about 18 months ago and bought a 2006 Kawasaki ER6-F. Perfect size for me, nice styling and a pretty good commuter bike too. Good luck!

Hi, I have been reading through several similar threads but cannot find this problem anywhere. We have sims which works fine and up until last week was installing fine on workstations. this week we have tried reinstalling sims on a workstation and when we run simsinst.exe we get the following error: 'SIMS Installer was unable to locate the SQL Native Client installer in the SIMS Setups Directory. Please run the file server installation, then restart the installation' I have tried running simsinst.exe on a number of other workstations as well but get the same error. Nothing has changed on the server or in sims with the last two weeks. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in anticipation
