According to sources, it will become available from 12 Noon UK time (7am eastern time US - Midnight NZ) today.

I'm not sure where the direct download link will be yet, but I'm sure one of you out there will have it :)

Err - you guys sure?

Everything I've read implies its the 18th - which is tomorrow!?

That's what I was lead to believe too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Roll on the disappointment as the end users realise that have the Start button back doesn't mean that the old Start menu will appear!

Not sure how accurate this is, but according to PC Pro, it will be available via the Microsoft Store as a free download that will install over the op of the existing Windows install.

Users running Windows 8 will be offered Windows 8.1 as a free upgrade via the Windows Store, where it will install in place over the existing operating system and leave all Windows Store and desktop apps intact.

The client for SCCM 2012 will work on Windows 8.1 but I'm not sure you can deploy it from SCCM 2012. You will probably need either 2012 R2 or a cumulative update. I suspect the former.

You'll also run into other trouble with it as SCCM 2012 doesn't recognise the OS properly so any deployments that you have which are set to look for the OS as a requirement will fail.

you need mdt2013 to deploy it i believe and the associated adk for 8.1 as 2013 dosent work with win7/8 adks (again i believe). Ive got it running on 4 pcs in schools been installed here for a few weeks as a test on my pc and 2 suite pcs dual booting to 7 (win8.1 is a vhd)

I'm about to start looking at dual booting 8.1 with OSX - any ideas on 'ghosting' that one ??

If it's not running on Apple hardware you'd be breaking the terms of use by doing so...
