SteveB_NI Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Its amazing how much more work you get done when absolutely no-one is here to distract you! This is my first summer working in a school, and with everyone apart from 2 admin staff + 1 caretaker and myself off for a few weeks I'm spending my time alone getting through my large list of jobs. I wish I knew how to relax - I should chill out a bit more! Summer hols started over here at the end of June, pupils back start of September.
Barneyr Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Its wonderful this time of year. Our school broke up last Friday and with the exception of the office staff and us in ICT there is hardly a soul about. Now we can get on with the real work
crc-ict Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 It's alright for some! We've still got the rest of this week, and one more to survive! But I don't work holidays
Scruff Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 We've got until next thursday and then it'll be only me and the caretaker for weeks, bliss! This week is good though, no year 11s, year 10s on work experiance, year 8s on a science trip, only 7s and 9s in, lovely and quiet
TechMonkey Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 2 weeks exactly left. Then 2 peaceful days then go off on a camp with 2500 kids for a week...... What was I thinking?!
dave.81 Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 We broke up just over a week ago... i was really looking forward to a quiet summer doing jobs around the college. That was until i found out the School was rented out for the entire 8 weeks of the holiday so half the jobs i wanna do i cant because it's being used. And the accounts department are keeping me busy, so much for my quiet summer.
bishopsgarthstockton Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 we break up this week, but i've decided to come in monday and tuesday to install some network cable in couple of offices. On top of things here, so should be in and out
cheesypete Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Every summer I think its going to peaceful.... .... and then i discover that contractors are populating the place. Cue - drilling, sawing, paint fumes...
SteveT Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Every summer I think its going to peaceful.... .... and then i discover that contractors are populating the place. Cue - drilling, sawing, paint fumes... .... and then the power is turned off ............ without warning!!! :? :? :?
Geoff Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 drilling, sawing, paint fumes... Hide some asbestos tiles in the ceiling and wall cavities where they are working. That'll shut them up.
apoth0r Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 It'll be my first summer, looking forward to the time off but not until I've finally had the chance to do the jobs I have been trying to do all year. Never take on a job as an IT Technician AND Teacher Of ICT!
TekkyMatt Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 I dont work the holidays, but I am going to come in as there are a few problems that can only be sorted out without the constant day to day annoyance. I got a switch to 'sort out' a new room to cable and some stuff coming in on delivery (next bl00dy tuesday, why couldn't it have been this week). Apart from that, just waitin till my 2 weeks in Tunisia, have fun all, I wont be posting for a while.

Cue - drilling, sawing, paint fumes... hehe its the same here... I've scheduled a lot of jobs for August (2nd half of hols) due to cleaners stripping floors, varnishing etc. Computers are being moved left right and centre at the mo!
plock Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 It would be lovely and quite usually, if we weren’t sat on the other side of a building site!
sparkeh Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 First day of hols and expected nice quiet six weeks. Turned up to a gaggle of staff with nothing better to do then wait for me and offload their problems! And bloody drilling all day ](*,)

It's a bit of a pain organising people to let us in, mind you, i can understand how its the last place you would want to be.
