Just been told to book a room for BETT, but they all appear to be full!

Can anyone recommend a hotel that is not too far away? Or perhaps I can get the tube to and from easily?

TIA

Coming from Worcestershire so could come in by train or by car (would prefer train though as I can have a nap..!) Havent got a budget - it is kinda whatever it costs... but I need to be at BETT both days...

After my experience with a London hotel I would always go for a chain hotel but avoid Travelodge. Definitely look at trip advisor though

All the ones around ExCeL will be full of exhibitors in most cases as we are usually too tired to play queue for the Tube / Taxi / Bus (or in ExCeL's case DLR) at the end of the day (speaking from experience here as the EG team have done that in the past and the Taxi queue was bigger than food queue at "lunchtime"!) so lots stay within easy walk / stroll of the venue.

The DLR to ExCeL (Custom House) is a very reliable and good service and now that ExCeL has 3 DLR stops at different points of the area you can get in and out even easier than ever before (thanks to the Olympics for the improvements to the area) so don't be too worried about being out of the area so to speak as transport in is easy enough :)

I'm just looking into prices now to get across from N.Ireland to the BETT show... debating going for a few nights (work will pay for 1 night accomodation + flights + travel costs) and I'll pay for an extra night etc.... can't decide whether to go for 1 night or 2 lol!

Hi, We are staying at the London City Airport Travelodge and there are still rooms available at £73per room.

As we all know, they are not the best hotels in the world but they are usually clean and it is very close to the venue.

Enjoy the rest of your break.

Joe.

Loooks like a few of us in there! Thats where we have booked as well. Didnt realise it was 30min on DLR, looks alot shorter distance on a map.

I'm being let out for the day (on my own, too) to attend BETT this year. I'm planning on the Friday so I can go and listen to Brian Cox.

Is there an Edugeek presence this year where I can rest my feet for a little while?

Don't forget it involves a change. Plus at the weekend the whole route isn't working. I'm tempted to test teh longer but more fun, route of teh cable car over the river from north greenwich.

They will be in teh fun corner of B290 but you can't rest your feet, you will be expected to work for your freebies ;)

As for hotels in general, i found that if you avoid the first few days, even the ones on site at Excel have the occasional room, i guess they send all the techies home after they get teh stands setup and working :)

@TechSupp Will depend on the day that you are going. Wednesday - Friday, you can take the DLR from Greenwich to Custom House (change at Westferry). On Saturday, you will be better off taking the DLR from Greenwish to West Silvertown and change at Westferry. When you get to West Silvertown, you need to walk over the bridge to Excel. This link shows the route N Woolwich Rd/A1020 to Western Gateway - Google Maps

@TechSupp There isn't much in it. Personally I'd change at Canary Wharf to aim for Canning Town.

If you are travelling on Saturday, take note of this thread: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/bett-2013/107721-bett-2013-transport-arrangements-saturday.html
