mattx Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 .....going to be interesting. I'm currently in New York and will be for the next week. Wondering if it will be like 1987 all over again.
Dos_Box Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I challenge Matt to locate decent chocolate and report his findings!
Achandler Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I have been through a Category 4 hurricane in Cuba before. A Category 1 hitting the US I would think wouldn't be something they could cope with.

Max_Power Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 itll be interesting to see how it ll pans out. Google have a good map of it at the moment, according to latest path it thinks that itll miss new york, or at least the brunt of it anyway. Google Crisis Map

Google Crisis Map It might miss the direct path of the storm, but the affects of the edge of the storm are pretty bad, not to mention NYC is predicted to get a storm surge in excess of 6ft.

DT2 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Well I'm a few hours north of NY in New Brunswick Canada, and everyone is preparing for power outages - as most homes here are fed by wells from electric pumps bottled water is all but a myth.... I'll be in the basement with my old battle bowl on if it moves further north, as my house is sided by a 60ft willow...... A few friends in Maryland and NJ have gone offline, they'd said earlier it was pretty rough, precip levels hitting 60+ Dbz (2-3ins of rain/hr) Still, I'm sat in relative comfort at McCain's HQ watching it all unfold, with a cup of good old yorkshire tea I sure don't envy those in direct line of it.... mattx Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 I managed to walk into the office this morning - it's about a 10 min walk from the Hotel. Got some odd looks from people when I started to venture out. Been told to go back to hotel before 13:00 as the wind is going to get stronger. I'm on the 8th floor of the Hotel so the wind makes quite a noise....

Flatpackhamster Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 This was about an hour ago - and it's getting worse. I suppose it could be a big storm, or it could just be England in early June.
