TechSupp Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Hotel just booked, be there on Wedand Thurs. Cant believe its now just accepted we want to go and allowed for in the budget! Just train fares to book now. Nice to look forward to after comming back to school after the Christmas break.
elsiegee40 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) Visitors need to make sure they are headed to the new venue. It's at ExCeL for 2013. Hotel right next to it and several within walking distance Caribbean restaurant just down the way is good as long as you don't mistake the scotch bonnet for cherry tomato (My husband has nearly recovered from an Olympic experience never to forget ) . Oh and it's easy to get to the O2 on the new cable car for food, cinema, etc Edited October 16, 2012 by elsiegee40
fs171 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Hopefull all in the department will be going this year, on the saturday. I made it back in 2010 and was really good experiance. I had just started out in the job and was the first few months of employment.
AJWhite1970 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Any recommendations for hotels? Fairly cheap and a double room. I knew every hotel in the Earls Court area backwards as have been to BETT for more years than I care to remember but a total newbie to staying at Docklands Cheers Andrew
rh91uk Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I'll be going - and may be looking for a hotel room for a night too

It's about 20 minutes walk. The Novotel, Ibis and Holiday Inn are closer, but pricier The Custom house Hotel is also cheaper and might be worth a look Custom House Hotel London | Docklands ExCeL Conference Centre EDITed to say I'd check out Trip Advisor before booking anything though! X-13 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Luckily Excel is closer to where I am than Earls Court. 1
hardtailstar Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 No hotel booking for me! i live an hour away so will just get train and tube, I went to the excel last month so already know the route to get there!
X-13 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I went to the excel last month so already know the route to get there! Anime convention [MCM Expo/London Comic Con]. I know my way there blindfolded. [And a mate of mine used to live right next to Excel]
witch Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I hope to go but as the last two years it will be Sat and at my own expense - which is a lot! Unless the stand needs help???? *volunteer*
jdoyle Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Will be trying the Learning Technologies Show instead of BETT this time around.
hardtailstar Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Anime convention [MCM Expo/London Comic Con]. I know my way there blindfolded. [And a mate of mine used to live right next to Excel] Nope, My brother was in the London Triathlon so went to see him.
hardtailstar Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Only an hour for me to ExCeL too where abouts you going from?
Earthling Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Is 'getting a ticket' the same as 'registering to attend'? I've registered to attend, but whether I'll be able to or not is debateable as my Snr Tech likes to go every year. Doesn't come back with anything, goodies, freebies or ideas, but he likes to attend. I'd like to come along though, as I'm hoping against hope this will be my last year in EduIT, and I'd like to put faces to nicknames before I leave.
elsiegee40 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Yes. When you register to attend you get a badge barcode emailed to you. When you get there, you scan the bar code and it prints off your badge for admission. I can never work out how they come up with attendance figures for BETT as so many people have more than one badge registration for their differing roles. All the geeks on the edugeek stand will have both an exhibitors badge and a school badge for example. As you make enquiries people zap your badge with hand scanners so they can send you information... it's important the right information goes to the right school usually!

Thanks for that, I'll have to trawl through my Inbox for the bar-code. I remember printing it off a while ago, but it's disappeared somewhere in the office. Not so sure about the scanning bit, I'll have to be really selective about the enquiries I make.......I don't want to be inundated with spam from all and sundry. What about the Edugeek conference....when's that?
