Been on here a while, so should probably introduce myself:

 

I'm Will Ottewell, ICT Network Manager at a Catholic School in Nottinghamshire, which had, until November last year, had some years of "just keeping it running" rather than developing the network. We currently have a 2003 domain running on 2k8 DCs (going to be moving over to 2k8 domain shortly), have quickly implemented some virtualisation, have just done some thin client work and am in the middle of installing a new phone system.

 

I've got an MEng in Cybernetics from Reading, but haven't done any of the recognised IT quals (yet). However, I spent a year working for a small IT firm in London as their Support/Deployment manager, and built a High Availability Hosted Exchange infrastructure for them (with BES), learned and worked with Asterisk PBX, and did a load of stuff with Linux (including rebuilding and reconfiguring a Hobbit box, whilst assessing Nagios at the same time - for what was required, Hobbit was a better fit for them), so think the experience counts!

 

I'm more than happy to pass on anything useful I know, and sometimes dabble slightly in code (currently trying to sort out a multithreaded server program with client so I can do logon tracking :))

 

So that's a quick about me... and a "Hello" :)

Hi,

I am David.

I have recently moved to a secondary school in Birmingham from a sixth form college.

We were running vanilla XP but after moving to a new build we went for Vista and CC4 as the principle wanted it.

We are now using XP with CC3.

I hope i can hel anyone with any problems and vice versa.

About King Solomon Academy

The academy opened in September 2007 and is growing each year with a new intake. This September, the academy’s secondary school will open and both the primary and secondary school will move into new, state of the art facilities.

No, I am not. Sincerely I just googled for "gsm power switch" and landed on one of the pages of your forum where some poeple discuss such devices and noone of them seems to have information about where to find such thing. So i decided to post some info.

 

Me personally working as sales&marketing manager for electronic eqipment manufactured by company I work for. On the other hand sometimes I write articles related to IT/Games and publish them with some online portals (normally in russian language), make web-programming also as freelancer and have own software project. I dont think this could be interesting to educational IT professionals because sincerely speaking I didn't payed attention to main idea of this society when I registered, I just wanted to share info with guys on that forum. :)

Actually, we do have quite a few people who don't work in education. Personally I think that you can offer quite a lot in terms of help and advice (not sales!) given that quite a few of us are involved with websites, gaming and the like.

Hello All,

 

I am a Teacher of ICT, eLearning Co-ordinator and Moodle Developer (in a contributed code way).

 

I love IT and used to be a Senior Software Engineer. My favourite language is Java, although I have used / written C, C++, Modula 2, Pascal, Ada, COBOL, BASIC, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, ProLog and 68000 assembler.
