  1. Dear Darragh, Sorry about the delay. As ePortal is tomcat based, I did a search and found this: why can't start Tomcat --Installation problem?? - Hot Scripts Forums Therefore, there should be a log file somewhere in the installation that explains the issue, perhaps a missing DLL or the Java JRE? ePortal will not be listed in IIS as it is a web server in its own right. Check out Apache Tomcat 6.0 - Documentation Index Is JAVA_HOME defined? Cheers, Gareth
  2. Dear Darragh, I have you checked what ports IIS is serving? Try stopping IIS and see if ePortal then works. If there is a clash, then ePortal can be configured to operate on a different port, though I cannot remember exactly where off the top of my head. ePortal is Apache Tomcat based and thus a separate web server. Cheers, Gareth
  3. Despite the integration issues, Moodle is working well. I have implemented LDAP authentication to RM CC3's version of Active Directory. Courses and classes are managed manually, but classes can be established easily through 'groups' and 'groupings'. In addition there is an issue of how closely VLE courses need to match the timetable, especially when you want to group year 10 and 11 on the same course for GCSE and yet the MIS would not even have that relationship. Establishing groups and groupings takes a little while, but not as long as using Serco's solution. In repeat of a training session I was able to get a History Teacher to do in 5 mins in Moodle what took him 45 in Serco's LP.
  4. I moved my school to Moodle after experiencing how 'user friendly' the Serco solution is.
  5. Dear All, This is a plug - of my Moodle Course Format 'Collapsed Topics', which is the same as the standard topics format but has 'toggles' for each section. This solves the 'scroll of death' issue when you have quite a bit of content. Full details can be found on 'Moodle Docs'. It works with Moodle 1.8 and 1.9 with a development version for 2.0. Cheers, Gareth
