Soo fast at the beginning I'd guess so hasn't got longest free fall but awesome all the same.

Aye pretty damn cool :) Just a shame 4:22 vs 4:36 (unofficial time according to commentator) so close

It was a great thing to see - show's how hardy humans are, and how good we are with engineering problems! However, 'the edge of space'? It wasn't though was it? The FAI has the Kármán line at about 100km. The USA has the edge of space at about 80km. He went up to about 39km.

The reason he didn't beat the free fall record is due to him deploying his parachute too early which is a shame.

The achievement of going 800mph+ is pretty awesome too!

He had to pull it though as he said he was going to pass out, i'd rather him pull it early than make a crater in the desert floor below. Besides, now he has the opportunity to do it again and try and beat that record. It was truly an awesome feat!

A graphic showing the stages of the ascent/descent [also compares stages to previous jump]

I thought his timer stopped working so he had to estimate the length of the free-fall.

after the jump he tweeted "I just jumped from the edge of space what did you do today?"

Watched the HD YouTube feed on the big plasma telly in the mancave, sat in my leather armchair with my daughter on my lap... pretty awesome times :)

How annoying must it have been when his visor heating failed and it started to fog up though - you're in the midst of the highest freefall dive ever and you can't see anything for the mist on your helmet

Had he passed out at anytime or have been incapable of deploying his reserve would have been automatically deployed allthough not something you want to rely on for sure.
