It wasn't though was it? The FAI has the Kármán line at about 100km. The USA has the edge of space at about 80km. He went up to about 39km.

Besides, now he has the opportunity to do it again and try and beat that record. It was truly an awesome feat!

Had he passed out at anytime or have been incapable of deploying his reserve would have been automatically deployed allthough not something you want to rely on for sure. Ben
