garethEds Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Evening, So it seems this was launched today: Apple (United Kingdom) - Education - Volume Purchase Programme - but I cannot for the life of me get it to work. Clicking on 'Enrol Now' takes me to an enrollment page which up on loading jumps again and gives a page not found. Is anyone else seeing this? Gareth

Does it actually require a credit card to purchase the apps? as mentioned here "How to I purchase apps in volume? Log in to the Volume Purchase Programme Education Store with your new Apple ID. After login, you can search for apps by name. Using a credit card, you can then purchase apps in the quantity you need." Or can you still use a gift card. Going to be a bit of a pain if i have to get a credit card authorised for every purchase.

Same happens here on IE & Firefox from a Windows PC. Tried it from Safari on my Macbook and worked first time... summat duff in the javascript mefinx.

j224 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Hi jlucas, According to page 19 of the 'iOS 5 Education Deployment Guide', you're able to use purchase order, credit card or PCard. See the quote taken from it below- "Institutions can choose from a variety of methods for purchasing apps, books, and iBooks textbooks. Education users, like all iTunes users, can use credit cards or gift cards to fund individual purchases. To purchase apps and books in volume, education institutions can use the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) and fund purchases via purchase order, credit card, or PCard. If an institution is tax exempt, it is not charged sales tax when purchasing content through VPP. An institution may choose one or more purchasing methods depending on its needs." Having said that, I've not tried it out myself yet so can't help you any further than that. James.

I'm speaking to our finance team to investigate whether there's a way we can get a prepaid debit/credit card, so we can attach it to that but there will be a relative low balance that Finance can top up now and again. Cheers, Rob I asked apple about this as well and got similar reply. They did mention however, that the gift card option was work in progress, although that doesnt help now. Not a bad idea about the pre paid card from Finance, will ask about that myself here as well, would save time in asking the finance person coming to my office to purchase the apps every week.

Renfield-64 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 When ever I try to use the volume purchasing (after signing in) I see the message "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the Volume Purchase Program" then click on "Continue" I get "an unknown error has occurred". Anyone else had this? Its driving me nuts!
