What is the oldest server OS that you still run?

I was sorting out the racks in our datacenter the other day and came accross an NT4 server that no one knew was still live,

 

just out of curiosity, whats the oldest os you still run?

2008R2

 

Client OS is XP, but they'll be gone in the next week.

2003, also have a couple of 2003r2's and 2008's. Critical servers are on 2008r2. Will be upgrading hyper-v and storage servers to 2012 in due course but dc's are likely to remain 2008r2 for quite some time. Can't see the point is upgrading the older servers at the moment. we are licensed to run 2008r2 across the board.

We have a Ubuntu 7.04 server kicking around which runs some scripts every night. The OS never got updated due to hardware incompatabilities at the time and since has now been virtualised and left at that version because it works and we can't be bothered as it should be retired in the next year.

2003 R2 purely on our CMIS server. Cost far too much money to migrate it to a new one just for professional pride.

We've got a mix of 2003 and 2008 servers but believe we are due to acquire a load of NT stuff before long

Thanks for the replys, looks like most schools are at 2003 as a minimum.

 

We still have quite a few win 2000 servers around.

 

I suppose out of 1200 servers 120 older than 2003 isn't bad.

2003 Server which is our SIMS Server, rest are 2008 R2. Might seem weird but i kind of wish i did have an old NT 4 box still in use for some odd/obscure service as i miss it, i liked NT4. Plus i am very nostalgic.

2003 here, just on our Spiceworks dedicated host and an old VM that runs Successmaker. Mix of 2008 and 2008 R2 for anything important, oldest Linux server is an ancient version Slackware box which runs email.

For people who have a server with an OS that is end of life or is nearing (2003) i was wondering if you have any plans to upgrade OS?

we have one W2K advanced server...

 

a load of 2003 server, and now, as of last week, 5x 2008r2 hosts (1 physical at our primary school, and 4 virtual on the top of vmware) We are essentially stuck with 2003 as DCs untill summer 2013, when we are jumping from RM to vanilla.

Most of ours are still 2003 server. We've now got 2 2008 R2 Active Directory machines though.

 

We couldn't move everything over this summer due to time constraints and money constraints (ie. software on the servers that would require new versions which we can't afford to do, so they're stuck on 2003).

2008 R2 across the board here with Windows 7 Pro clients... no plans to upgrade for a long time yet. Oldest OS is probably our Centos 5.7 Samba server.

2003R2 VM that used to run our old MIS and was using as a print server for Xp clients. Printers are being moved over to a 2008R2 VM, after that everything will be 2008R2

Why do you boast about this still? Staying on Windows 98 in.. 2012 is just crazy. Sure it "works" but you're ignoring 10 + years of improvements that MS have made with SMB file sharing.

Staying on it because of cost is just crazy as with that logic you could have stayed on Windows 3.11 or 95 forever.

You do yourself a disservice by using it still, as if I saw a Windows 98 server in production still (or.. ever, even in 98 it was silly not to use NT4 instead) I would assume that the network admin is incompetent, which you aren't.
