...that's if you suffer from the blues of course and are not one of those bl00dy irritating cheerful bu66ers...and breathe...

Anyway...my favourite for these times is The Curse of the Jade Scorpion...I know it was not a great commercial success but I just love the 1940's atmosphere and the style of the humour...plus I am a bit in love with Helen Hunt in this film...

Star Wars!

Takes me back to my 8th birthday, and watching it twice in a row in the cinema cos we'd missed the first 10 mins by queueing!

And it's all about good versus evil!

EDIT: Oh crap.... Just realised I've given my age away..... LOL!!!

Burn After Reading

Osbourne Cox: And you're my wife's lover?

Ted Treffon: [shaking his head] No.

Osbourne Cox: Then what are you doing here?

[pause]

Osbourne Cox: I know you. You're the guy from the gym.

Ted Treffon: I'm not here representing HardBodies.

Osbourne Cox: Oh, yes. I know very well what you represent.

[pause]

Osbourne Cox: You represent the idiocy of today.

Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either.

Osbourne Cox: Yeah. You're the guy at the gym when I asked about that moronic woman.

Ted Treffon: She's not a moron.

Osbourne Cox: You're in league with that moronic woman. You are part of a league of morons.

Ted Treffon: No. No.

Osbourne Cox: Oh, yes. You see, you're one of the morons I've been fighting my whole life. My whole f****** life. But guess what... Today, I win.

My default films when I am feeling a bit 'bleh' (yes, that is a technical term) are Blade Runner, Lord of the Rings or any Studio Ghibli movie (Normally Howls Moving Castle or Spirited Away)

Totoro and Satsuki find your lack of love for them surprising.

Yes! That's in my top 3 favourite films. What a film. I'm not much of a Brad Pitt fan, but he's superb as the idiot gym instructor. "You think that's a Schwinn?"

Don't have a default "when I am down" film..

One of my all time favourits though is "Silent Running" makes me well up a bit, as does "Ghost" which i saw in the cinima when it came out.

Still Crazy. It gets very dusty in the room at the final festival scene when they do 'The Flame Still Burns'. But it is hellishly uplifting, and the entire film is a hoot from start to finish :)

Films don't cut it for me when I'm down. There is only one cure, and that is to listen to the music of Nico, especially "The End" and "Behind the Iron Curtain". When you're reaching for the razor blades, her voice will reveal to you that all isn't that bad after all!

I'm not a happy person so there are a lot of movies that I turn to:

Shawshank Redemption - triumph against adversity

Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure - there is always time to make a difference

Cypher - Blind will can ocomplish anything

Equlibrium - Emotion is a double edged sord

October Sky - goal setting

Red Planet - value in all forms of human behaviour

The Usual Suspects - Seemingly powerless can have power

Law Abiding Citizen - Justice is a group effort

etc.

Just thought of a couple of others that are good for me...

Hot Fuzz - "look at his hooorse" - "it's all for the greater good..."

Porco Rosso - can't think of a quote but love the film anyway!
