I looked up the Pizza Express in Luton that we usually go to when we go to see the football and that doesn't show either.

All our local restaurants in Tonbridge are named (and shamed in some cases) though!

I need to find a different Chinese.

Both the ones we use get 2 :( Trouble is I have had a dicky tummy after eating at both and just blamed it on too much booze.

I've never had any problems with the 1 I use, so may just keep using it! lol!

I've just put my son off the local KFC - Rating 1 - :D

The KFCs here have a rating of 3 and 5...

I know we're on the same train line, but Hastings is a bit far to go for a KFC. Not that I ever go there, my son and his mates though...!

"Too unspeakable to rate"

Hope not, rather enjoy the garlic bread and cheese. Grease machine!

Glad to see my absolute favourite food place is 5 star though - the Artlenock shop! :D Mmmmmm, sweeeeets.

Best suggestion I have had today, I did a postcode search, it found a local Italian place (that I forgot existed) as a 4 and then suggested my next nearest restaurant is in London! For those that have read my location its a bit of a trek!!

A few worrying '1's nearby. Luckily my favourite Indian is a '4' so we're on for Saturday....

The sandwich place that used to deliver to my old works got a '1'. Urgh.

Wow, that is a great site. Disturbing but great. The 'horrible' chinese near us gets a 5, our indian gets a 4, the pizza place gets a 5 and the 'nice' chinese gets a 1 :-S Eeep.

All that happens down our way is as soon as a outlet gets a poor health rating, the premises is "sold" onto a family member and then the operation starts again until next audit.

The Indian and Chinese that we use both get 5's so I am happy...

...OTOH the "advanced" search option on the site is rubbish!

[edit]...but I am not surprised to see the places that get 1s around here![/edit]

I am surprised by the 1 rating for the 'nice' chinese - the food is lovely. The food from the 5-rated place is horrible. But I guess it's about food prep and storage and I can see how they might find the 'nice' chinese a bit dodgy - it's an 'open kitchen' meaning you can watch your food cooked 'live'. It's also TINY but having watched my food prepared, I don't have any complaints about the way they handle it so that rating did surprise me a lot. That being said I was also surprised by the 4 for the Indian. Pleased but surprised - the indian is LOVELY - best indian food I've ever eaten, but I can't say I've been overly impressed by the appearance of their staff tbh.

I was also surprised to find that a very very popular indian restaurant in a lovely little village square near us got a 1!! Thats horrifying - it is supposedly a 'gourmet' restaurant. I WAS going there for my birthday meal but I think I've changed my mind now...

Just found a local Chinese has a 0 rating, I've always thought their chicken didn't taste much like chicken. Definitely will be bypassing for the one just up the road that has a 5 star rating.

Don't forget this rating is about hygiene only, it's not a reflection on the quality of food. I would suggest the dodgy chicken (is it weird and slimy?) has been boiled rather than pan fried - Asda curries use horrid boiled chicken and it's gross. Hygiene ratings and food flavour are totally separate. I was simply distinguishing between the two by virtue of our experiences of their food. It's also really interesting to look up popular and supposedly 'high end' places and find out they have terrible ratings (I'm still shocked and concerned about Veranda) meaning that kitchen hygiene, food prep and storage is poor. You'd have thought somewhere 'high end' would be more invested in keeping their kitchen hygiene to a high standard wouldn't you.

It's a shame the reports aren't published. If you want them you have to make an FoI request to the LA which is a pain in the rear.
