Oaktech Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 spoke to SWGfL today and it is aparently a reoccurrence of the Ddos attack from yesterday, they aren't giving out much detail.
FragglePete Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I've just recieved an e-mail from our contact at the local council; confirmed this DoS attack and I quote: "These recent attacks appear to originate from approx. 40,000 households in Russia, due to their computers being infected with a Virus/Malware that was activated yesterday by the hacker" Crikey! Pete

Pete Yeah...that'd do it!........doh!
Oaktech Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 the guy i spoke to this morning was a little less candid, but he said that the ddos was 'pretty big'
mole Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Hi Is still a problem for other people, is for us, up and down like a yoyo
Oaktech Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 We have some slow times but at no point have we had an actual drop out since the 15th...
Oaktech Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Apparently this should be fixed today....... Do you know if this is leftovers from the ddos or is this a new and fun issue all of its own?
mole Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Unsure, just that is an issue they are looking to address today. 1
witch Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I've had some dropouts too - very brief ones but definitely there. Download speeds are silly too - it is going to take 65mins to download a new wireless driver, apparently - yeah,right..
newpersn Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 Anyone had any dropouts within the last hour?
FragglePete Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Yeah - we have. Speed for us dropped to floor - we should be on 32Mbps, currently getting less that 3Mbps. I have logged a call. Pete
mwbutler Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Anyone had any dropouts within the last hour? Yep "some people in the SWG area are having connectivity problems" according to someone @ SWGFL. We had slow internet from 14:20 to 14:40 but all seems ok now.
mb2k01 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 It won't help anyone with this issue, but did you know you can get text message alerts from SWGfL? I didn't until I last rang to rant about speed/connectivity issues. I received a text at about 2.20pm today making me aware of the issue - quite a useful service.

mb2k01 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Just received the following text message from SWGfL: Connectivity issues in the SWGfL should now be resolved following our engineers identifying another DDoS incident. For further details contact the Service Desk
Steve21 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Just received the following text message from SWGfL: That's funny We're told there's nothing wrong with it evveeerrr! Steve
mb2k01 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 That's funny We're told there's nothing wrong with it evveeerrr! Steve Nice to see they're consistent with responses! I'd give the service desk a ring and ask why you're having to find out from other people instead of them (i.e. lay it on thick - I hate lack of communication!)
