Popular Post featured_spectre Posted February 10, 2012 Popular Post Posted February 10, 2012 As of the 20th February I will be employed in a Landscaping Company This is the 3rd job (in my life) that I have had where I have been employed on this date (must be a lucky date with it being the day before my birthday). Work entails hedge trimming up to 1km of hedges, then clearing said trimmings, mowing grass area's 3-4 times the size of football pitches, salting and gritting pathways for heavy snow, small bits of building work (such as paving, building sheds etc), litter picking, shingling and other such stuff. I did a weeks unpaid work trial and love it, loved the group I worked with and thoroughly enjoyed the work (even if it was tiring). 6am start, 2pm finish, and £10 a week more (in a trainee position) than what I was on as an IT tech/network manager. HAPPY DAYS! 17

Congrats though Couldn't agree more, for stuff that we know, responsibilties we have, stuff we have to put up with, while dealing with end user problems (PICNIC's) that we shouldn't really have to. 1

featured_spectre Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Winter wear = the following bandana + wooly hat + scarf (head) vest + tshirt + jumper + fleece (upper half) boxers + long johns + trousers (lower half) thin socks + plastic bag cut to size + thin socks + steel toe capped boots (believe me, the plastic bag is a far better insulator than thermal socks) wooly gloves + work gloves (hands) I am rather toasty all day I had to do a few days unpaid to see that A) If I enjoyed the work and the company, and B) they could assess my work and see if they liked me

featured_spectre Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Well it is only until October 31st (which I accept as its a trainee role and the training ends at that point, will find out if they want to keep me beyond that), but hell its better to be in work and KNOW when it will end, than be in work and pray it doesnt end due to budget cuts etc.

featured_spectre Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks one and all I am just so glad to be able to bring in some money other than dole money...its so embarrassing being on the dole...I genuinely had to build up the courage to go in and claim for the first time and each time I went I felt I lost a bit of my dignity! I feel better for the few days that I have worked, my arms felt painful first of all but now they feel better and honestly feel stronger. Kinda felt like I did 5 sets of 50 press ups (not fun) in a row and my arms ached for days, but I worked through it and now its all good. I can tell I will lose a fair bit of weight from this so its all good
