AndyCope Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 @limbo - As my post - schools who we were aware could be affected by this problem were telephoned directly, therefore if you were not you shouldnt need to do a further upgrade. - Unless you have Perm exclusions in Spring Term. I cant comment here on any support calls you may have logged but will look into it.
Lee_K_81 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I think that the issue here is that not all the calls werent recieved. I for one wasnt notified. I agree a phone call would have been better than an email but if the call was never made/received email would have been a good back-up.

This sounds like a good solution - but your post on this forum is the only time anybody has said that this is what is happening - all the people who do not read this forum will probably still be confused as to what the situation is because only half the message has got out and in very inconsistent ways. Is it really beyond the countries largest LEA to have a single, efficient and reliable system to notify people of what is going on (e-briefing is not bad - but not really quick enough in many situations). Even if it is a simple as asking all the schools who wish to be kept up to date to create an email address cmis@ or Link2ICT@ - then if schools do not monitor and maintain this email address then that is their own stupid fault.
AndyCope Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Link2ICT are aware that it is not always easy for the correct individuals in school to be aware of upgrades / other issues. As a result we are putting into place a new system which should become operative soon and schools will informed of this over the next few weeks. A further build of CMIS (2.81.9) will be available to download from the Link2ICT website (for Birmingham Schools only) later today - we intend to contact secondary schools individually re this.

A very sensible suggestion. Simple to implement too.
AndyCope Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 No, eportal will not require an upgrade. Full advice is being provided to Birmingham Secondary Schools via telephone and to all schools via the Link2ICT website which has been updated.

limbo Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 Finally got some clarification in e-briefing this morning as to the situation - for those not recived it:- http://www.bgfl.org/services/itcmis/files/pdf/2819%20who.pdf (will probably not work for schools not on the BGfL) Looks like everybody needs to install build 9 - but it is only urgent for today if you had a permenant exclusion in the Spring Term. Build 9 also fixes a problem with exam reports which is why you will want to do it sooner rather than later. The document also asks you to send them an email address they can use to keep you up to date with this kind of information in the future.

MrBen Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 No you do not need to upgrade ePortal if you had already done so earlier in the week - We left the whole lot up there as some schools had not yet run any upgrades at all.
