I saw some fantastic parking with smart cars, you can fit 2 into one space back to back no problems! Andrew_C Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I had a test in Smart when it looked like I'd need to get something that I could teach my daughter to drive in. One of the points the salesman made was that as a two seater, she wouldn't have been able to carry 4/5 drunk, excited passengers egging her on to do stupid things. He had in fact bought both of his daughters them for that reason. In the end, the lack of boot space put me off, but I'd definitely consider it as a second car in the family.

Take a look at the NCAP - it doesn't do particularly badly IMO - Smart fortwo | Euro NCAP - For safer cars crash test safety rating

Having seen several smart cars momentarily sidecar when turned into a t-junction a bit quickly. You'd have to hope it bounces.

Davit2005 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 My first car was a 1975 Mini Clubman Estate GT. 10" Wheels, tiny sports steering wheel and it was great fun to drive. 15 different shades of Orangey browny, collapsed rear suspension (we had the part to fix but couldn't get the old part off) complete nightmare on the motorway at 75MPH BUT STILL FUN. Probably a lot more room in the back, room for 2 adults on the back seats as well (just).

Don't like the Astra-H at all. The F, yes, the G, yes..the J, in looks certainly yes..but the H (or MK5) just looked huge with a fat backside. I'd rather push my MK4, or indeed my MK3 come to that. And Maestro Diesels - was it the non turbo, or the Perkins Prima TD? Those were fun. Long legged gears and quite nippy to boot..
