We are also having the same problem, we have used a different deployment method and are using windows XP unlike Andyrite, but we are having the exact same problem with our volume licensed CS5 package. When students log in it is asking for the serial number.

If I want a really accurate selection I use the pen tool to outline the object then change it to a selection then cut/delete where nessecary. The pen tool is fiddly to get used to and takes quite a bit of time to cut out an object but it allows a perfect cut out of an object.

This inside a batch file has done the trick. REGEDIT /S \\Server\scripts\logon_screensaver.reg Even though the batch file and reg file are in the same location without entering the full path it just would not work.

I have tried that in the parameters but it still asks me if i want the registry changes to be added.

No I am currently running it on it's own. In the GPO it runs a startup script called logon_screensaver.reg.

But where do i put the commands? in the .reg file i have set to run in GPO, or in the parameters box in the Startup script GPO?

Ok another question, I want to change the screensaver shown at the logon page. I have created a .reg file with the nessecary instructions, I have added that to the startup scripts. However when the computer boots it asks me do i want to add the information to the registry. How can I stop it from asking me if I want to change the registry and make it do it silently with out asking for user intervention?

I was using this in the login script xcopy \\server\share$\screensaver.scr C:\windows\system32\ The share where the file is kept has everyone read permissions on the share and NTFS (it is where we keep our MSI's so i know the permissions are good) I have tried yours Glennda I call a seperate .bat file from the login script Call screensaver.bat Then in that .bat file i have put If exist C:\windows\system32\screensaver.scr goto end xcopy \\server\share$\screensaver.scr C:\windows\system32\ /c/y end But that has not worked either. The students obviously cannot see the C:\ drive and would have no premissions to system32, is this what is stopping it from copying? Your option sounds interesting chazzy2501 could you offer some more info or point me in the right direction.

I am having issues trying to deploy a screensaver to Student PC's. I have created a .scr file and I know where to setup the screensaver in GPO. However I cannot get the screensaver itself to the machines. I have added a line into the student login scripts to copy the files from \\server\login script folder\screesaver.scr to the C:\windows\system32 folder However It will not copy, I suspect it's a permission problem with either the C:\ or the system32 folder. How can I get the .scr file in to the system32 folder either through GPO or via script?

We are looking at Open Office, currently a couple of IT Teachers are testing it to see if it fits in with the ICT GCSE/BTEC and Functional skills. The only query so far as been the use of Open Office (or Libre Office) database, but it seems they have the nessceary functionality just that it is laid out differently to MS Access or operations are completed in a different order for example input masks and data validation is setup on forms rather than in the table view.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good free stock control system, only needs to record basic details quantity/location/barcode etc for an inventory of the products used by the building and cleaning staff. Either webbased or from a central server would be fine. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have asked a similar question and if there was away to turn it off in GPO but it can't be done from there either. We use custom exam accounts, which by default have spell check turned off in the options menu within word. Before the Exams the students are told that spell check is disabled and not many students have the nous to switch it back on and an Invigilator is always present so they would not be able to even if they knew how.

I have had a look at backuppc but it does not look like it backs-up to LTO3 Drive. I am willing to try any ubuntu compatible Backup solution as long as it is free and will backup to LTO3, hence looking at bacula.
