Small Form factor PC's

I noticed this today from another poster. We are looking at possibly using something like this this year in a couple of rooms. We have seen that Evesham do one as well and will be contacting them also for a price and spec.

 

Do Dell do anything like htis?

I have 20 of the Dell ultra small form factor PCs in one of my primary schools. They're a couple of years old now but they're exceptionally well built and I've become a real fan of them!

 

Dell do the Optiplex 745s in the ultra small form factor. Not the same as the ones you've linked too as Dell simply have the base units bolt onto the back of the monitor. It works well and frankly keeps it nice and easy for repairs and maintenance:

The computer is totally enclosed inside the monitor case and can be mounted on a standard VESA mount if required.

 

If I were going to be buying fat clients I would definitely go for some of these!

@tosca925: Thise PCs that localzuk has spotted do seem pricey but they do have 19" glass-fronted TFTs - that's pretty big and a lot harder to damage than a regular TFT.

They can be locked onto the monitor stand and you need a screwdriver to remove them

I have some of these built by elonex. They're ok but i've had one cooked WD hard disk, and the CD drives have a habit of getting stuck. Still thats probably down to elonex build quality. Otherwise, an excellent machine in a low footprint.

They are very nice - but I can get two HP PC's for the price as some of these, that makes it quite hard to justify.

If you can get over the RM phobia, the RMOne is an excellent product. We have had one in testing for over a year now and it a great machine. They run to around £500 each. The add on bits like mouse and keyboard, like the Dell USFF are contained and so can't be pulled. There is no bulky power unit to find a place for unlike the dells and it is hard screen and anti-graffiti proof. The unit can be secured to the desk if required.

The all in one PC we produce is based on desktop components most importantly its a standard Micro ATX mainboard meaning you could remove/upgrade this in the future to upgrade the machine to a higher spec while retaining the rest of the machine. The base contains the SFX psu and optical drive while the back of the screen contains the micro atx mainboard (which can also be populated with low profile cards) standard 3.5" hdd etc.

 

As with all these things its horses for courses and this solution gives a slim all in one form factor PC while retaining as many standard desktop components as possible which has its advantages.

The ones from sclonline look nice and neat and they have fewer parts for little hands to play with and in theory being part of the montior the teachers might acually see kids messing about with the sytems. If Jesus could turn water to wine I think this could happen.

 

Found a half eaten chocolate muffin, empty bottle and half crisp packet inside a PC recently someone had stripped all the blank plates and metal guards behind and tucked the remains of his lunch inside but the teacher saw nothing?? I think all-in-ones could be damned good idea.

Has anyone ever opened up the back of the RMOne ? Talk about a dog's dinner! It needs 2 staff just to hold it all in while the other tries to screw the cover back on! I prefer Dell's USFF too, decent build quality - not a proper all-in-one which is a plus for me anyway as someone who quites like to be able to open things up and have a poke around..... and before anyone makes any smart remarks, yes I have been CRB checked!!!!
