MK-2 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 BBC are back redesigning their website again. This is about the fourth change in as many years BBC - Homepage To me, it looks awful. They are probably trying to copy the Windows 8 feel of tiles all over the place, but it looks a mess. You have iplayer next to local news below top news and sport but you can still scroll down for other bits, but you can also scroll across to other pages. The way the site is now looks good, clean and easy to browse. The new way just looks cluttered
tech_guy Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Eeek...it looks like a car crash. Almost like a mish-mash between a Wordpress template and Windows 8. Shocking.
Oaktech Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 i like the concept, but the execution is poor. the tiles all need to be the same size and there needs to be less off them per slide, and they need to have clearer divisions between slides.
cromertech Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I looks a little like they are trying to combine looks from different platforms. The bar below the images is reminiscent of the ps3 iplayer app. This may be a good direction to go as more and more people start to get more and more varying smart devices. Keeping the look and feel the same between devices has to be a must for any national or international company.
featured_spectre Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 On the plus side, the mobile site is much better
joe90bass Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 My eyes, my eyes................ Awful!! 1
Jawloms Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I had the same opinion as everyone else here so went through the questionnaire about it. It's ridiculously huge! I just want to be able to say something like "It looks too cluttered" and leave it at that. Shame there isn't a questionnaire about the questionnaire!
SYNACK Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 What happened to whitespace, simplicity, cleanleness. Now its all chrome'd up this, jumping that and more boxes than your average courior damages (delivers) in a week.
pete Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 So, who wants to do the "What percentage of licence fees have been spent on website redesigns?" FOIA request. *grumbles about rubbish TV and tells kids to get off his lawn*
rad Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 um, I am not convinced... lets switch over to ITV 1
