oalcock Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hello All, I have been given a section in the staff newsletter called Oliver's IT Tip Top Tips! I am now stuck for things to put in it! Can anybody recommend anything we can stick in it such as global advice with PCs etc. Last time, I had info about viruses and scams. PLEASE HELP!!

When transfer large amounts of data using a laptop try to connect it to a wall network connection for the best speed things like that?

penfold Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Things with Virus and scams can always be re-used with the latest at the time. If it's for things to with their home computers anyting like how to check if they have any AV software and if it is up to date. Windows updates etc. How to save in compatible formats if using different software at home to school. If it's for the school computers you could remind staff about online facilities, how to troubleshoot common reported problems such as computer/projector issues that regularly come your way - Fn&F4 etc, check cables are connected and powered etc.

Is what you send at an approriate level of detail for the recipient? Should the information be anonymised? Is there a more secure way of transferring the data?
