Me and a colleague have started having a "weekly word" we try to fit into everyday speech for a week, it can be quite fun and i think we are going to run with it.

this weeks word has been :

"spasmodic"

— adj

1. taking place in sudden brief spells

2. of or characterized by spasms

Used to describe the state of our internet connection at the moment

Not sure which direction we will take on the word of the week however, http://dictionary.reference.com/ has "daily picks" which could be used. one of todays is

"flimflam"

–noun

1.

a trick or deception, especially a swindle or confidence game involving skillful persuasion or clever manipulation of the victim.

2.

a piece of nonsense; twaddle; bosh.

which i think we could use to describe most of the fault reports! Anyone have any ideas on unusual words we could try and use? So far we haven't been called out on the use of the word spasmodic which is a surprise.

just a quick google of this (without clicking any links!) makes me think its slightly unsuitable for a work environment, or any environment for that matter :x

There are some things that should never be acknowledged with a word to describe it.

This is one of them.

Myself, @bossman and @webman played this game a year or two back at BETT. We come up with some strange words and had to use them in our conversations with the sales people - we got some strange looks :o)

Cacophony

Sagacious

Fullsome

Overmany

Tarry

Whence

I used to have one of the those daily calendars with archaic / out of use words, and I managed to get the word in every single day apart from 2 I can remember.

Sagittipotent

Cadent

Sagittipotent

Cadent

Sagittipotent would be tricky.

Might be able to fit cadent in there... "is the flashing light cadent or irregular?" on a fault :)
