A bit random of a guestion i suppose..

I like to watch movies, i turn the lights off, close the curtians and have my snacks and drinks at my side. I pick up the remote and cant see a thing! So then I have to get up, turn a light on, start the movie, turn the light back off.

I've always wondered why TV remotes dont come with little back lights behind the buttons so they can be seen in the dark.

I know you can buy these seperate. It would be nice if it came with the tv though so you didnt have to spend more money.

Did your TV come with a backlit buttoned remote?

That is a very interesting point....

However, I've found that the solution, over the years, is to memorise where your favourite buttons are, in relation to the biggest buttons on the RC, and therefore you can hit them in the dark!

Yes.....Really!

It works!

I have a Samsung TV, and the remote that came with it has back lights, although I never use them, there aren't that many buttons to remember the layout of!

Yeah i try to memeroise but always get mixed up with the volume control and channel control and end up switching from the dvd lol.

How much do you think it would cost a manufacture to add some back lights? surly not much. My tv isnt a super expensive one, so maybe the top of the range tv's get a back lit remote.

The last remote I got came with an Onyko surround amp. It has buttons that light up ... when you press them.

I'd second the vote for harmony all in ones. They light up when you pick them up or bump them.

Simple solution....get your other half to switch the light on and operate the remote whilst keeping your eyes closed with a pillow over your head. Oh and make sure the film is paused, ha ha!

my Samsung LED tv has a backlit TV remote but my Samsung home cinema system doesn't :-S very frustrating! Just use your phone for light

Sky remotes have a little dimple on the 5 key like those on the F and J keys of keyboards so you can find your way around them in a tactile way.

Another vote for the Logitech Harmonys :) Mine has a nice colour display and core keys are backlighted which are great :) My AV Amp has glow in the dark keys for Volume and channels
