Pete10141748 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Today might just have been the most manic, busiest day I have had in the 4 years I have been here. At 8am this morning, I had 0 jobs in my helpdesk and was very happy that everything was up to date and running smoothly. By 3pm, I had taken care of 39 jobs I even managed to forget to have lunch I was so caught up in the mayhem! Usually get 10 or 12 a day plus minor requests like a blank CD or new VGA cable and spend the rest of my time on my own jobs/plans/schedule, but I've never had 39 requested jobs from staff in one day before! Crazy!
sonofsanta Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I bet you've got a buzz off it though - nothing like fixing loads of little things here there and everywhere to feel efficient and effective and put a smile on your face
rad Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 What you don't know is what they know, I reckon the BIG O are in on Monday!!! lol
maniac Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 We ocassionally get days like this, normally it's a Monday when you've just arrived and there's already half a dozen jobs waiting for you on the helpdesk. Don't think I've had our helpdesk down to 0 jobs for a very long time, there's always that one or two jobs on hold that we're waiting for parts for.
dirtydog Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 you get yours down to 0!? We probably have getting on 80 or so open tickets at the moment that require varying levels of time. The only time ours was at 0 was when we started it it is nice to get loads done in a day though, 39 is an amazing effort!
Edu-IT Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 People are obviously using your helpdesk effectively! 80 incidents!
Sylv3r Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Our helpdesk currently holds around 20 jobs, but I also use it as a To Do list for long term jobs so they are not forgotten about. Thankfully, no issues reported by a member of staff are still unresolved.
Rydra Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 17 jobs here, most of them have been there for some time awaiting money/time/postponed for various issues. I have on average 2 tickets per week plus about a dozen buttonpresses/cable reattachment style jobs.
MK-2 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 DROP TABLE HELPDESK_TICKETS; one easy way to get back to 0 for you all
Pete10141748 Posted March 15, 2011 Author Report Posted March 15, 2011 What you don't know is what they know, I reckon the BIG O are in on Monday!!! lol Already had them in last week, I reckon that's what the rush was from, 2 days' of jobs not getting reported as they were too preoccupied! you get yours down to 0!? We probably have getting on 80 or so open tickets at the moment that require varying levels of time. The only time ours was at 0 was when we started it Yeah now and then I get it down to 0, only stays there for an hour or so, and it's a rare occasion! Even rarer these days what with just having a load of new kit bought in.......
El_Nombre Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Got 22 in here. When that JEFFING toner order from last week arrives I'll be down to 17. 5 are ongoing reminders, 2 are PICNIC and there's probably some genuine issues in there somewhere or something. It's just me though so all the 'behind the scenes' is mine also. EDIT - SUPER important question that's been bothering me forever: Is there a busiest day of the week in edu-it support? What's everyone's?
Pete10141748 Posted March 15, 2011 Author Report Posted March 15, 2011 My busiest is usually a Monday, though I have no idea why. Amazing how many people forget how to do things in just 2 days away from the school...... Thursday is the quietest day as there are lots of staff on PPA/non-contact time and due to parking difficulties they are encouraged to work at home on those days, so there is less of them here to report problems or ask me to do stuff for them!
bondbill2k2 Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 I've got 6 on at the moment, some are awaiting parts or are my own notes for maintanence and I keep lists on there suck as which laptops have been damaged
