No. They spent half an hour waxing lyrical about an output (separate cost, BTW!) that every electronic device over £100 has carried for the last couple of years (HDMI). When they make them a slightly less waste of money, I might look up ;)

I'm sorry but I just need one! Anyone want to buy my 4 month old 32GB iPad?

Don't like the smart cover feature though.

BBC News - iPad 2 tablet launched by Apple & Steve Jobs

Apple (United Kingdom) - iPad - All-new design. Video calls. HD video. And more.

What's an ipad ?

How much do they go for second hand ?

Trying to work out why I would want to watch 9 video streams at the same time.....

Word on Twitter from Suzi (geekchick) Perry is March 25th.

UK distribution should be 25th March. Waiting for details of whether a launch will be at the Regent St store or the Covent Garden store. It might be a b'day treat ...

I almost thought about buying some of these instead of a class set of laptops this year. Then I found out the iPad has no multi-user support. Call me when you can do something other than a 1-to-1 deployment and we'll talk.

UK release date is apparently done on purpose as Gordon brown snubbed Steve Jobs once...

I really hope that's not true, otherwise it just proves the petty mindedness of the man (Steve Jobs).

Did it annoy anyone else that the image above the caption "Google's Android operating system represents the biggest threat to Apple's dominance." on the BBC's article actually shows a tablet running Win 7?

I had noticed that but I was more worried that the iPad shown at the top had Steve's face on it. Is this the final design?? ;-)

I'd quite like a tablet for working, but the ipad is useless and too expensive for that; a win 7 tablet would be good, but a google based one would work just as well for most of what I want/need to do.

I just can't warrant the cost of something like that. I have a computer at home, at work, and a laptop for most computer-things, a mobile phone for most simple social networking things and music, and I have no great need to watch movies while wandering about; I have 3 TV's and a computer at home for that. I go OUT to get away from technology that drives me nuts, doesn't work the way I want it, and forever moaning it wants updates/charging/fixing.

Is it going to support flash this time as without flash support as a web device it's worthless.

I very much doubt it. There are a number of places where apple have stated their views on flash, and they have shown no inclination or willingness to support it anytime soon. God forbid they'd have to allow someone else access to their devices beyond a single button on the front to make it work...

That would be a definite no. Apple do not want Flash on their devices due to battery usage issues, poor quality coding issues, people being able to bypass Apple's app store by creating rich applications in Flash etc...

Did they confirm how much ram is in it yet? Apparently a rep in london accidently let slip 256MB, which would explain why they're being so quiet about the specs.

Another way to put it would be that Apple don't want us to be able to decide what we want to do with a piece of hardware we paid £500 for...

That is my view too, but then, that's why I won't be buying one.

With the flash thing, i can understand a little. The number of security holes found in Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader is the past few years is rather high. My friend who has an iPad reckons he doesnt miss flash.

Using an IPad to surf many websites I have found that I am precluded from a large amount of content just because I used an Ipad, even on you-tube the search results are different on the Ipad than on a normal laptop. Opera conducted a survey in late 2008 and nearly 40% of websites from a 3.5 mill sample contain flash of some sort.

Very short sighted and even arrogant of apple to arbitrarily decide that it's ipad users can not use flash, but then most fan boys like being taken for a ride.
