We currently have CC3 in School which the users are using and we also had CC4 installed next to it so we can slowly configure and test it ready for rolling out in the Summer. I just wanted people's experiences with doing this and any problems that they faced with particular pieces of software, hardware etc... Here are what systems we currently have:

SIMS

Frog

Securus

Sanako digital lab

Has anyone faced any problems with these systems and CC4 or CC4 in general?

I think you have some searching on this website to do!

I have searched but I wanted people with experiences with the particular systems I listed. I can't find many recent threads on these so it would be useful to us.

We moved from CC3 to CC4 and then moved over to SP1 afterwards.

We had issues but they didn't relate to software you mention. The issues related to the way the server handled the upgrades/rebuilds, as we had about 800 workstations to do. We started off rebuilding 30 at a time, only to be told by RM to only do 10, these took about 2 hours a piece. The other issue related to the RM MMC, this kept crashing but is now fixed.

Some packages will have to be rebuilt, I think the only one that springs to mind is Adobe CS packages. Sims we had to reinstall anyway after a rebuild, Frog we don't use, Securus will work but we no longer use it as it no longer works for us, and Sebalus is fine also.

Best advice would be to 'upgrade' to a vanilla network, we are on CC4, there always seems to be something that is broken, its quite a nightmare sometimes.

Considering you've already bought, paid for, installed and configured a CC4 network - it would be stupid to just 'upgrade' ( #oldjoke ) to vanilla after that investment.

We are successfully running SIMS on our Win7 CC4 network. We imported the existing packages from CC3. To replace the EXEs when new versions are out, you just need to export the package, replace the setup EXes, and then re-import. We haven't used any of the other software you mention.

Overall, our CC4 experience has been a rather good one.

The Gods must look down favourably on you ;-)

Not really, it's just been installed correctly, managed well, and not tinkered with :)

I have two schools successfully running CC4, our experiences have been rather good too.

We only use SIMS from the OPs list but that hasn't been any problem, there is an RM/Capita guide to running SIMS on the RM KB and RM packages for SIMS if you wish to make use of them.

We are running SIMS and Securus on our CC4 network with XP and 7 clients without any problems. Like others have said RM provide the SIMS client packages that you can download and import to the console. With Securus we just imported the client package that was in use on our CC3 network before.
