I was hyperlinking around T'internet and found a members "stylish" personal website - had a bit of a laugh and then remembered that my old one might still be in existance - and it is http://www.geocities.com/siwalters_uk for an example of prime handcoded/Word saved in HTML website (But at least my daughters had an excuse - they were only 10!) Anyone else got something to show? (It must be bad - your old myspace page for instance ) Si

I never did the 'showing off my skills' thing with music etc. No mine was boring. In fact my website until recently looked like something forgottenabout for a reason. I had loads of stuff on the site that had no links to it. But Iknew it was there. So I kept alsorts of info and data sheets and programs. That way where ever I was I could get to my utils and info. Now I use Wordpress and yes I have a blog. But I also host some commercial sites and hobby sites. With some forums. They are all good practice for me and keep my hand in on these things. Quake? God my fav game. We used to hold tornaments in our house over the summer with all the kids in the area comming in for death matches. Still have a quake server running (somewhere!) Think its at the side of the netware 3.12 server lol Alan

srochford Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Don't think there are any websites around that are that old but if you google me (eg: uk education schools it newsgroup steve rochford - Google Search) then you'll find some of the high quality info I used to post on usenet :-) Actually, Default.asp is still live and at least some of that dates back to 2000 so I suppose that makes it quite old!

It was a site that basically hosted all kinds of stuff you couldn't get to in school, as our site never get blocked lol. soveryapt Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Shame you didn't post this like 2 or 3 weeks ago as I've just taken down my old site (I was posh and went with some random company that gave you a free .co.uk domain along with the hosting) and pointed (for the time being) all my domains to my main site which I've just redeveloped. The old one was shockingly bad though and I'd been meaning to do something for a while. I had toyed with keeping it up somewhere, but thought better of it. I was proud of it though, lovely PHP coding to ensure that the pages pulled from header / footer files etc so I only had to update one menu file / footer file for the site, but still shockingly bad design! lol .. Talking about things from the past though, Gooey .. anyone remember that (it was around the time of me getting my first website thingy hence why I thought of it) ...
