antonvaltaz Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 So, we may have a gap of a few months where we don't have a VLE at our school. I'm looking for a solution whereby teachers can easily upload past papers, revision materials etc for students to access. Will obviously need to be password protected (would be easier if students could share the same login though, rather than individual logins). Any suggestions?
edutech4schools Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Have you looked at google apps for education. Can be used as a VLE as it has Google Sites, Google Docs and has domain integration / control. Oh and its free for schools
glennda Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 could just setup a network share and use something along the lines of Adito vpn/openvpn als (same thing!) to connect users to the share through ssl. We use it here for kids to have remote access to my docs/student shared area etc. Is ad intergrated so same login as normal computers.
mac_shinobi Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 a free drop box account with logon credentials that said students and teachers know ? Not sure if drop box allows multiple logons at the same time ??
SneakyBeaky Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Try Skydrive: Windows Live SkyDrive - Online document storage and file sharing
nadeem Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Try Skydrive: Windows Live SkyDrive - Online document storage and file sharing I was going to suggest this
plexer Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Docman for joomla not quite free but only €20
mac_shinobi Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 If you have a web server running / using apache - there are php scripts you can use for a file sharing area
Sylv3r Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Yep another vote for Sharepoint either what was mentioned above or Sharepoint WSS 3.0 will do the job.
yvonnew Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I agree. WSS 3 Sharepoint would be a good choice and you will get the authentication you need and permissions set on groups and folders. Yvonnew
