So, we may have a gap of a few months where we don't have a VLE at our school. I'm looking for a solution whereby teachers can easily upload past papers, revision materials etc for students to access. Will obviously need to be password protected (would be easier if students could share the same login though, rather than individual logins). Any suggestions?

If you get in touch with whoever is the administrator for your web server, they can set which is the 'default' filename page - default.htm, index.htm, index.html or whatever else. They have to set this in IIS or Apache (depending what web server software they use). Whether they will be willing to, however, is another matter!
