I would suggest you take a look at details information and then decide what is best for you Upgrade process overview (SharePoint Server 2010) Inplace upgrade allws the Admin / Site owner the ability to switch over to the sharepoint 2010 look and feel from moss 2007 when the organisation is ready. However if you do this and then change your mind, you will no longer see the link as an option in any of the admin configuration pages. For free web space you could try office live for small business. Not really sharepoint though. But excellent for free. If you are looking for a hosting company to offer what you are looking for, then I have used Apps4Rent and they have been good. I have used them for SharePoint 2007 to collaborate on projects. Basically you pay for what you need to use. You will find though that SharePoint 2010 will be more expensive at the moment. Also remember that SharePoint 2010 is all running on 64bit. Anyway at least with a hosted solution you do not have to pay out for expensive hardware. SharePoint 2010 is really brillant.
