Myself and Ashman91 have taken some MS Exams recently curtesy of our school being quite generous. I have come out with all of these (Haven't taken the full exams yet for MCTIP and MCSE as they will cost a fortune). Ashman91 came out with most of these but missed a few server ones off as he hasnt done much server stuff, but I am chuffed to bits that we passed these! Below is the list of the modules we passed.

We took these as the school cannot afford the exams for both of us to do the MCSE and MCITP. It covers a huge chunk of the requirements for both, but still some study to do. Might negotiate with MS to see if we can swap all out for a full qualification or something of that nature.

I've been asking for some of them for ages.

MSDNAA costs us just shy of £4000 a year for our subscription. You get a certain amount of free exams with them, however you don't get the full exams for MCSA and MCITP etc. The ones I have done, cover a range of quals...My intention is to get all module passes for MCSE, MCITP, MCDC and MSDBA and then speak with MS to see if I can "trade them" for the full qualifications.

MCITP covers lots of different areas. You can be an MCITP in anything from Enterprise Desktop Administration to MCITP: Database Developer. All these require 2 or more exams to achieve.

MCTS is what you get for passing one of these. So at the moment I am an MCTS for Windows 7.

If I wanted an equivalent of an MCSA I would be looking at MCITP: Server Administrator (Which I am currently working on) and MCSE would be MCITP: Enterprise Administrator.

Now when I say equivalent there is a catch, the MCITP qualifcations are only valid for the life time of that product and as such will expire (unlike my MCSA).

 

You would have to take a full exam to get the full qualification I would have thought else it would be considered easier to do them in these small chunks.

Each module is roughly 2 hours of study, and we have been studying on and off since May. We studied in lunch breaks, free time, at home etc.

The answer will be no, those are courses not qualifications (similar to Learndirect - statements of completion rather than qualifications themselves). You will have to pass the required MCTS/MCITP exams.

Indeed. You get a load free if you've got a technet sub and I find them useful for MCTS revision, but you can just click next to skip through the courses and get the certificate. A proctored exam it isn't.

massive zombie thread,

i have been looking at taking some Micorsoft modules (chance of me being able to fund a whole MCTS is nill) so looking and working through modules as and when i have the money for it.

if i pass certain items could i still put those on a CV as a gain qualification even though it havent taken all the exams to get the full MCTS?

 

Has anyone got any feedback on the online training resources such as Collection 6292
