Who works term time only? How many full time?

Just wondering what percentage of IT staff work all year to term time... Does it depend on the area, school or whether it's secondary or primary? Any stories from the quiet time?

Started as Term-Time + 2 weeks as the ICT Technician in September 2005.

 

The NM moved to another school in the area in July 2006.

 

I was promoted to NM and consequently became Full Time since July 2006.

90% of everything gets done out of term.

37 hours, 52 weeks for me. secondary school in dorset.

 

Did a suite of 30 machines in a half term, including moving the old 30 around the school, removing the old old machines that the old ones were replacing, some cabling in another room and disposal of the packaging.

 

Finished around 6pm on the friday!

Secondary school. Me and my tekkie are full time, would get nothing done if it was term time only.

Full time, school closes completely for around two weeks at christmas, but some of this is meant to be 'working from home' time.

I'm probably one of the few buggers that ends up actually doing that, but mostly it's just remote server tidying. Likewise, most of the work gets done in the summer, with us usually rolling out 200-300 computers (A mixture of new placements and replacements for machines at the end of their 5 year life span) in July/August. Although we've recently started getting a jump start on it, abducting a couple of classrooms as workspace during exam leave, and trying to get all the ghost imaging done on the machines before they go out... then just plugging them in and running through setup in the room.

 

But I digress. Full time, and then some.

Primary schools - term time only normally.

 

But go in the holidays on overtime if needed (overtime concentrates hearts and minds of all concerned )

I am term time plus inset days plus an extra two weeks.

 

Pay is obviously pro-rata.

 

Personally I like the holidays off.

I'm in a funny situation at the moment I work for 2 schools:

 

Junior School: term time plus 10 days

 

Secondary School: full time (but as I'm only 2 days a week it leaves me with a lot of scope for overtime during the holidays if its needed)

term time for me plus development days - this is in a primary school and i only theoretically do 35 hours a week although its more like 38 some weeks. i'm still trying to drum into the staff that i am not paid to work through my lunch hour even though i am onsite still.

Term time + 15 days (although for the 2 years I've been here, 10 of those are spent in South Africa setting up links with partner schools each year)

I started doing term time only but went full time about two years ago. I managed to persuade the management that I needed the time to get stuff done.

 

Saves being bored out of my skull for 13 weeks a year and it means a few grand more in the old pay packet too

Term time since I started in 2003. Currently working to get full time but it seems they're reluctant to find the funds.

"The Powers That Be"... :twisted: They came back with a point on scale 2 (one below Sc3) which would mean I'd have to do a whole lot more to get onto Sc3 in the future; which isn't that far up anyway

 

So yes, bossman does have a lot to do during the hols but in the past I've come in during the hols to help out. But it's a PITA to have to tell admin how many days I've been in, then wait until up to 2 months to get the remuneration for it

Full time - holidays are for server upgrades, rearranging the network cabinet, chucking accumulated junk and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Full time here. Working with one Network Technician and one Student Placement Techician seven assorted servers around 300 computers, desktop and laptop, about 130 staff and abot 1300 students.

head has asked me to go full time but not willing to on scale 4 (already at the top of the points)

 

im only a technician but do a network managers job plus the ict coordinators role who left last june.....

I used to be term-time only, but then they realised that they were paying me overtime pretty much every school holiday so moved me to full time....

you get over time

 

my head wants me to work 2 or 3 extra hours a day for standard rate 4-6pm(or even 7pm) i start before 8am (to install some computers) also wanted me to work one of the easter holidays for standard rate!!!! you can guess what my answer was.

Pay scale: H9, with no overtime paid and no increments left. Only movement possible now: M1 (Management scale) Or perhaps motorway of the same name, northbound!

I am fulltime 37 hours per week and I am entitled to 27 days per year, but generally work most days at home if I ever am off.

 

The technician here is term time only 37 hours per week but can be asked to come in if required during the holidays.
